Photographer’s Note
This is a view of Biggesee, the fifth largest German water reservoir, situated in southern Westphalia between the towns Attendorn (north) and Olpe (south). Here some particulars:
construction time: from 1956 to 1965
maximum water surface: 8,76 km²,
total capacity: 171,7 Mio. m³,
total length: about 20 km,
catchment area: 287 km².
The lake serves to maintain the same level of water in Ruhr river as well as providing water for the Ruhrgebiet - with 4435 km² and a population of some 5.3 million, it is the largest urban agglomeration in Germany.
Apart from the possibilities for water sports (sailing, surfing, rowing, canoeing, fishing, swimming and diving), two passenger ships ply the lake. There are different camping sites along the lake and two official diving areas as well as a diving school and for divers it's very interesting to "visit" the rests of the former villages on the bottom of the lake. Additionally, there are numerous cycle and hiking routes round the lake and its environs. Now in autumn you can have wonderful and calm walking and bicycle tours here.
You can read and see more about Biggesee HERE.
In workshop you can see a wider view.

Hello Frank,
A perfect standpoint to capture the meandering river. The image has wonderful depth to it combined with beautiful autumn tones. The boats with their blue covers are nicely placed and add a splash of contrasting colour.

Hello Frank,
The sharpness of this picture is remarkable, so is the mirror-like surface of the water. I like the zig-zag composition and the colours going from mainly brown in the fg towards yellow further back and mainly green in the bg.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Frank,
Beautiful place where that zigzag pattern makes composition more dynamic. Varying water level reveals that lake is artificial, but nevertheless nice place to visit. Light isn't that good though leaving the sky rather pale.

Frank,
This is a nicely composed shot taken from a great POV. The zig-zag pattern created by the river leads the eye through the shot nicely. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness. The boats add a nice point of interest for the scene.

Hallo, my friend Frank,
The geometry of the zigzag that there have created the shores of this reservoir is very interesting and provides a nice graphism to the composition.
The light, the reflections on the water, and the autumnal hues in this landscape give a great quality to your photo.
Well seen, and well done.
Regards from a soft but rainy Barcelona.

Bonjour Frank,
Bien vu mon Ami !

Hallo Frank,
Your fine shot shows that also an artificial lake can be beautiful. An excellent composition, gorgeous fall colours and very beautiful lake surface. A hike around the lake must be nice experience.
Greetings from rainy Espoo,

Good Morning Frank, a very eye catching shot of this lake, The golds and browns of the landscape blend in to the contrast with the water. It is a lovely autumn scene. I have been trying to track you down and see some of your pictures. I haven't been here for almost a year, but I spent some time on Bodensee last month. I will try and follow your postings, because I too, believe in your philosophy on pictures and critiques. Schuess Edge

Hallo Frank,

Hi Frank,
An interesting picture in many aspects! There seems to be a wide difference between high water and low water her. Can it much lower than what you show here? I like the fact that you (as always) include the map reference, it is obvious that you were standing on a bridge taking this photo. The composition is enhanced by the blue boats! It would certainly have been interesting to see all the drowned villages here (without having to dive...)
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hallo Frank. Zig Zag.

Indeed, Frank, this is a zigzagging water formation, informed by your usual superlative note. The location of the small marina adds a very good highlight. Warm regards from Virginia.
