Why is Monschau so special? The town has extraordinarily well-preserved houses that are centuries old, tucked into a peaceful, hilly landscape. The houses are half-timbered topped with high slate roofs, some of them richly colored and ornate.
The city is 30km south of Aachen in the extreme west of Germany, close to Belgium.

Very nice picture with these old houses rising close to the river. The walls of the houses, with a few tiny details in red, blends very well into the black and white winter landscape, and you can see that the walls are not horisontal.

A beautiful winter picture. It is nice to see the real timber frame houses. So often, such images are new houses built in imitation of this style. Sharp and clear.

I have the summer-style, you the winter one !
And also in winter, Monschau is a nice village, you've portrayed this in a very nice way and a good light, Jacques, nice done !

Thanks Jacques for sharing this beautiful photo with us!
The architecture is amazing and you presented us with this detail from Monschau in best possible manner. The light is is stunning and a careful composition including the river and hill slope behind reveals a real beauty of this unique place.

Beatiful view. The picture is very sharp and I like how many details of the houses can be seen. One of the owners has installed air conditioning (right side). This is maybe helpful for him but not nice to watch. I like also the white colour of the snow and the façades. The exposure is perfect. Even the river in the shade has enough light.

Very good composition with the small river that leads our eyes through the photo.
Good light, not too harsh.
Indeed a good photo.

This picture goes to may favorites...amazing: the subject, the composition and cool colors..I mark it useful because I "found out" about the place I want to go to...

A beautiful picture. Looks almost black and white. The glimpse of the red windows and green grass adds a lot to it.

When I first looked at this, I thought it was black and white. It's an excellent composition of the river and houses and the backdrop of the snowy hill, with a nice light across the scene.

This is a house style that I absolutely adore. It gets even more charming in this context, with snowy roofs and pine trees in the back. Crispy and lovely.
