Photographer’s Note
The Ruhr Area is a region where once were hundreds of coal-mines. Zollverein in Essen is a very fine example of industrial architecture in the Bauhaus Tradition. The architects Fritz Schupp and Martin Kremmer created a beautiful and functional ensemble. Since german coal is to expensive on the world market the mine was closed in the eighties.

Very nice piece of industrial landscape. Looks more like a college or a hospital than coal mine. A cool mine then.
