This photo is part of my photo album "boxed", dealing with the enclosed atmosphere of our urban landscapes.
It shows a man sitting next to a technical entrance before the shiny black granite façade of the K20 museum in Düsseldorf.

The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen is the art collection of the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, located in Düsseldorf. United by this institution are three different exhibition venues: the K20 at Grabbeplatz, the K21 in the Ständehaus and the Schmela Haus. The Kunstsammlung was founded in 1961 by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia as a foundation under private law for the purpose of displaying the art collection and expanding it through new acquisitions.
During its 50 year history, the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen has earned an international reputation as a museum for the art of the 20th century.
The building at Grabbeplatz (K20), with its characteristic black granite façade, was inaugurated in 1986.

Now this is one of your finest, I am glad you chose to post it here, it has a great sense of geometry and perspective and is a step above all the boring postcard shots we see here, this is piece of quality on this site at a time when the quality of images here has declined considerably, a little oasis of artful photogarphy on TE.

Amazing composition and very good light management here, the opportune human presence, giving sense of space and dimmensions, very good sharpness and graphics...Excellent and creative work...

You are presenting us an interesting and peculiar shot: a huge box in the street and a lonely man sat close to it. The reflection behind give a clue of where we are.

the man is really small, but HE is the subject of the picture but essential. I like the big contrast between his position against the white glass wall and the dark grey area in the background.

Simplistic yet very effective photo here. Great composition!

Interesting! The man's inclusion made the graphism more interesting and creates a story behind all the happenings. The lines and reflections are beautiful! Excellent framing and composition!

Hello Paul - I like your thinking and this shot illustrates your premise admirably. What I find striking is the lack of colour in the cityscape, everything is hard-edged with not a living thing to be seen excepting the man who is totally dwarfed by the slick but souless environment. Interesting shot. Best regards Rosemary

A magnificent composition of some very original architecture. And yes, it is colour, although not immediately detected.

This is a really impressive shot - I love the contrast between the tiny person and the enormous, cold, geometrical background. The limited range of colours adds to the lonely atmosphere. Excellent work, congratulations.

really outstanding work! The whole architectural structure is exquisit, and so is the reflection. But it is the man on the left, so small but still so important for composition that makes this one very special. TFS, best regards, F.

U heeft geluk dat de man zich bevond voor de tegel muur.
Dit geeft echt de grote van muur, en tevens een goed contrast.
Het is reeds een paar jaar geleden dat ik nog in Düsseldorf was.
Volledig sober afgewerkte foto.
Prettige kerfstdagen voor u en uw familie,
