Photographer’s Note
This is Burning Furnace 5, wich is a part of the burning furnace works in Duisburg. Burning Furnace 5 was build in 1973 and closed down in 1985.
As iron production was abandoned, 5 acres of industrial wasteland remained, waiting for new use. Huge steel structures were all that was left to bear witness to human toil and labor and to outstanding periods of industrial architecture. The commitment of citizens prevented the demolition of the buildings and installations that was threatening. Between 1990 and 1999, finally, the IBA Emscher-Park International Building Exhibition created a new type of park which achieves a symbiosis between man-made artifacts and natural flora.

Pretty good idea to make B&W. And what I like most in this picture is a few of trees like fighting with the factory - that's what you mentioned in the description.
However to emphasise those trees, I would make this photograph a little softer, but that the matter of own taste.
