Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken at the blast furnace works in Duisburg, the blower house is a part of the blast furnace works.
The Blower House Complex comprises the Blower House and the Pump House and was built in the very early days of the blast-furnace plant at the beginning of the 20th century. The neoromanesque arched windows and the ornaments below the eaves are typical of the architectural style of that period. The Compressor House was added to the complex during the fifties. Four motor-driven turbo blowers are still installed in the Blower House. They generated the blast air needed for smelting the ore. The Pump House delivered the water required for blast-furnace cooling. The different houses of the complex are today used for a wide range of events including concerts and company celebrations, dance and theater presentations or product launches. The Blower House is now being converted into a theater with a permanent stage and seats for an audience of 500 for the Ruhr Triennal Festival.

Hi Leontien,
Welcome to TE! Nice picture. First of all, I like black and whites and secondly I like architecture and especially with a history. The note is therefor well appreciated!
Just wondering where the focus is on... Guess it's the wall to the left and not the first building to the right. That seems slightly out of focus (also due to F4.0, if it were higher, the focus on the left wall would not have mattered).
But still a nice pic! Dennis
