Duisburg Sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

I know there are lots of sunsets here,-
but now I got my own ;-)
A bridge over the harbour of Duisburg Ruhrort.
Duisburg is a German city in the western part of the Ruhr Area (Ruhrgebiet) in North Rhine-Westphalia. The harbour of Duisburg is the largest inland port in Europe.
Today's city is, as is the case with all big cities in Germany, a result of numerous incorporations of surrounding towns and smaller cities. At the beginning of the 20th century the city surpassed the 100,000 limit. Today it is the 12th-largest city in Germany and the fifth city in North Rhine-Westphalia with 506,496 residents. The city is renowned for its steel industry. There is still one coal mine in operation, but Duisburg has never been a coal-mining location to the same extent as the other places in the Ruhr. All blast furnaces in the Ruhr are now located in Duisburg. 49% of all hot metal and 34.4% of all crude steel in Germany is produced here (status 2000).

Nice warm colors, good dof.

If I can add 2 remarks : the sun is not centered between the pilars of the bridge. And the antenas (?) on the top of the pilars are cut.

Hi Hermann,
You did well in taking your own Sunset. Fine shot with a very good and interesting composition. I like the way and angle of view with the Sun in the gate of the bridge. Nice low angle approach and the enquadrement of the bridge cables and lamps is splendid. Good natural colors and sunset light. The way you capture gives graphims and geometric patterns.

Very good work and very well seen and composed.

Great sunset shot, with great composition, colours and contrast. It doesn't matter if there are lots of sunset photos, if it's a nice one, like yous, it's always a pleasure to look at.

I dont get why there should be a problem with sunset photos. This is a very beautifull image with warm colors and I just love the position of the sun in the middle of the bridge.

Very good this red sun behind the patterns of the bridge. I like the work. In fact I had such a sun to shoot the other day - but not at all with the same fine details of the sun as you have here. Very good Hermann

I like the creativity in this, which is quite different than the normal sunset. The round ball of the sun is great, and the shot of it through the bridge is twist that makes this visually interesting. The double lines of cables appear to be transparent 'pseudo' mountains. Excellent work!

Always important to have some additional interest in a sunset photo, I find - and this one is an excellent example how to do it, Hermann. The bridge silhouette gives a good compositional anchor, and the lampposts sort of join into the rhythm established by the steel cables. Beautiful red and orange tones, really nice. Also a very informative note about Duisburg.

Very nicely framed Hermann - it looks like a jungle creeper infested bridge at sunset rather than Duisberg or maybe a contemporary Egyptian themed structure - but then when it comes down to it it's exactly what it is - really Duisberg in a beautiful light and relationship to the sun!! Hu RA!

Hermann, very nice shot. the scene is perfect, I like the sun as a big circle light and very orange with a good saturation. Nice quality and also the silhoutte looks very nice.

Sunsets are fine when there is some creativity in them, here I find the graphism of the bridge silhouette against the red colored sky excellent !
Your framing is good too to have the setting sun within the arch.
