Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord ('Industrial park Duisburg')

Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is a very special place. Forming the centre of the park you can find the 'Meidericher Eisenhuette' (Meidericher iron foundry) that has been shut down in 1985.

This is a view from the foundry (to be more exact: from the blast furnace) to the north. In the front you see a large windmill and in the far background the (still) active iron foundries, an energy plant and other 'heavy metal'-industry.
If you ever come to Duisburg visit this park also in the evening, because it is beautifully illuminated.

This is my very first attempt with long term exposure without any tripod. *g*

I like the contrast between the 'old energy plant [windmill]' and the enormous plants in the background. Both symbols of constant human technical progression are combined with one element, air.
Maybe something like a 'technical retrospective'? :)
