Photographer’s Note

This is the view from the electors castle in Bonn, situated in the centre of the city, to Castle Poppelsdorf.

The distance between these two castles is exactly one kilometre. They are connected by the wonderful "Poppelsdorfer Allee" (Poppelsdorf boulevard) which is planted with huge chestnut trees on both sides (please see map view function left hand where I put the marker at Poppelsdorf Castle). It runs from Poppelsdorf Castle in a north-eastern direction to the electors Castle. Poppelsdorfer Allee is lined with a lot of beautiful Wilhelminian style houses and it is a residential quarter in great demand.

The effect of this point of view and the focal length is amazing. Poppelsdorf Castle seems to be situated in a lot of greenery, nearly in a forest - but please see map view ...

Hello Frank,

These Google maps are quite amazing!
Your pov uses the trees to great effect, framing the building with a sense a mystery. We feel to approaching it as the prince in Sleeping Beauty, working his way through the vegetation!
Lovely colour tones and textural details.

A good composition of this beautiful castle nicely framed by the lovely trees in their springtime colours. Fine natural looking colours and very pleasing ambient light. Greetings from a damp and miserable Charente-Maritime.

Indeed, the long focal length gives a nice illusion of the castle being surrounded with these spring green trees. A beautiful shot with really attractive colours. A good informative note with the always welcomed map view.

Excellent coulours, the pastel-like shades in the backgound are quite attractive and this is certainly a very beautiful place. Interesting also to see the other pictures you have taken here, and get see connection between them.

Sunderschön diese Aufnahme. Das Schloss liegt verborgen in dem Wald, die umliegende Stadt ahnt man Nicht.
