Photographer’s Note
As you can see spring gathered momentum here in Germany. My photo shows magnolias in front of the electors castle in Bonn - since 1818 the main building of Bonn University.
It was built for the Cologne Elector and archbishop Clemens August of Bavaria in it's present form about the year 1700 according to the plans of the Italian architect Enrico Zuccali. Because this wasn't enough, the elector in addition had a great summer residence , 30 km away near the small town Brühl and some other smaller castles.
The electors and archbishops of Cologne since the Middle Ages weren't allowed to spend the night in Cologne because of differences with the Cologne citizenship. These even culminated in a battle in1288. So the holding of court mainly took place in Bonn and in its surroundings.
In 1777 the castle in Bonn was totally destroyed by fire and after this partly rebuilt. In 1926 it was originally rebuilt but once again destroyed during the World War II in 1944 and than rebuilt in 1951. It is situated in the middle of the city. In front of it there's a wonderful park, the "Hofgarten". You can see this in the map view left hand.

Bonjour Frank

What a beautiful composition, Frank!
Magnolia, an impressive tree, indeed! What a great embellishment for this image!
I love the saturated colours and the created perspective, too.
Have a nice day,

Bonjour Frank
Beau mariage de couleurs entre le bouquet de printemps du premier plan et la couleur des murs de ce château.Le bleu dans le ciel équilibre parfaitement l'ensemble de cette belle perspective.
Bonne journée

Hi Frank,
Interestin to read that this palace has been rebuilt many times. Very nice spring shot combining beauty of flowers and grand architecture. It's reasonably sharp all over, but I think you could have chosen smaller aperture.

Moin Frank,

Hello Frank,
The use of the beautiful magnolia blossoms as a f/g was well conceived; they add a softness to the strong, repeating, angular lines of the building.
You have done well to keep quite a sharp focus on such a deep depth of field.
Excellent sense of perspective achieved by the diverging lines leading towards the focal tower.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Frank,
The magnolias, one of my favourite trees which unfortunately do not stay in bloom very like, make a lovely frame for the beautiful castle. I like the long deep perspective and the well captured detail in architecture and flowers. Beautiful natural tones and superb clarity. I like it a lot.

Hello Frank,
You placed the blossom excellent as frame to the right.
The splendid architecture that offers us this capture, the perspective obtained with your setting, and the magnificent effect created by the light and the shades in this urban scenery, they form a really beautiful composition, with a great technical execution.
Nice work, my friend.
Best regards
John.

Hallo Frank,
A beautiful spring photo, where one can admire both the magnolias and the great architecture of the castle. Good composition with the magnolias framing the photo. The castle sure has had bad luck during its history. TFS!

Hello Frank,
What a spectacular image of the Elector's Castle converted into a building of the University of Bonn. It has the Palladian window treatment, the round and triangular pediments alternating. But your framing with the the blossoming flowers, and the use of one-point perspective is superb.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Frank,
I can see the spring blossom is well advanced, I'm afraid we have to wait for a while up here after the most snowy winter for ages!
I like the point of view that is adding fine dynamics in the composition, and a good sense of depth...
Attractive colour palette and fine details!

exposure and perspective are also well managed.

Frank,
This is a great shot of this great building taken from a fine POV. The angle of the shot creates a nice sense of depth and direction. The flowering tree in the foreground add nice depth and framing for the scene.
The lighting and colors are great as is the sharpness and detail.

Hello Frank
Great historical write up and presentation. I like how you captured these Magnolias and the castle at the same time. Everything is perfectly in focus. Not sure how you achieved this. Great POV. Great colours and perspective with the people on the walkway. Are you able to go inside?
Well captured,
Tosca
