Photographer’s Note

Here I show you the magnificent organ of this outstanding building. This instrument was inaugurated in 1961. In 1980 and 1981 it was renovated and enlarged. It now has 69 registers and 5112 pipes. Its front was carved out of oak wood in the 1960s by the sculptor Manfred Saul. Among the multifaceted carved illustrations and scenes there are even two astronauts and a heart transplantation.

Guten Morgen Frank,

letzten Sommer habe ich auch Bilder in der Kathedrale geschossen aber sie sind nicht gelungen, war wohl zu dunkel. Vielen Dank fuer das sehr schoene Bild der grossartigen Orgel!
Finde das fast quadratische Format passend auch die schwierigen Lichtverhaeltnisse hast du gut gemanaget.

Hi Frank,

magnificent organ of this wonderful cathedral. I'm wondering how it fells when the chor is also singing. Picture taken sharply and the colors give the whole a warm atmosphere.

You are right, this instrument is one of most captivating to listen, and it returns to me in memory of works of Bach. Decoration is sublime, and modern since you quote very modern carved subjects. It is an image very interesting and carried out with brilliance, in particular for the management of the light and the colors. Congratulations.

This is a fine shot of this magnificent instrument. We saw many fine pipe organs on our trip through Germany but not many nicer than this one. The trumpet pipes add a sense of depth to the shot as they extend from the console. You managed nice lighting and colors for this interior shot. The photo is sharp and yields nice detail.

I like the soft colors and the
finished framing of the instrument.
And although the light has remained
a little overexposed in some places,
it is a good photographic work,

jetzt erzähl' mir aber nicht, das wäre ein Zaun! ;o)
Nettes kleines Orgelchen - sorry, aber ich komme aus Passau, wo die größte Kirchenorgel der Welt (mit über 20.000 Pfeifen) steht... das konnte ich mir jetzt einfach nicht verkneifen!
Spaß beiseite, diese tolle Orgel und die wunderschönen Schnitzereien hast Du toll eingefangen. Oben ist das Ganze zwar rechts und links ein bißchen überbelichtet (wahrscheinlich da, wo das Licht zu den Fenstern hereinkommt), aber das ließ sich wahrscheinlich bei den schwierigen Lichtverhältnissen nicht anders bewerkstelligen. Da hatte ich's mit meiner Sonnenblume schon einfacher...

What a beautiful organ! Very interestingly some of the pipes are positioned horizontally. Amazing wood carvings, indeed. Your photo shows the instrument from a good POV and all details are so wonderfully visible. The link to the site, where the organ can be heard (with Internet Explorer only though) is a great addition to this excellent TE contribution. Very beautiful and impressive is also the sound of the organ and what a lovely Bach's choral transcription of his own cantata "Wachet auf, ruft uns die stimme" is heard (an played in a solemn, not too quick a tempo). Thanks a lot for sharing!

Hallo lieber Frank,
Hier sollte man einen Haendel oder Bachkonzert beiwohnen.
Vertikale Pfeifen sind gewoehnlich aber hier gibt es auch jede Menge horizontale Pfeifen.
Tolle Schnitzereien.
Wieder gutes Standpunkt und schoenes Licht. Wie immer, wieder reichliche und nuetzliche Informationen.

ja du hast recht, die Orgel ist wirklich die Königin der Instrumente.Es ist wirklich sehr aufregend einem guten Organisten auf der Orgel beim Spielen zuzuhören.Sehr gutes Bild mit interessanten Infos.

am interessantesten finde ich den Kontrast zwischen dem alten Kirchenschiff und der modernen Orgel, besonders die Schnitzerei des Prospekts ist interessant. Dein POV bringt diesen Gegensatz hervorragend heraus. Ein faszinierendes Bild. TFS!

Dein neues intro Foto sieht eher nach Gesclechtsumwandlung als nach Hexenschuß aus....
Trotzdem gute Besserung!
Ein gutes Bild von diesem imposanten Instrument.Schöne Schnitzereien und auch toll eingerahmt durch die Säulen unten und zu beiden Seiten.

Hallo Frank,
da Du hier auch eine Hörprobe beigelegt hast, habe ich das Bild immer nach hinten geschoben, weil ich normalerweise Musik zuhöre (Wiener Klassiker, freilich), während ich mich mit TE beschäftige, und ein Stück muss natürlich bis zum letzten Akkord abgespielt werden. Die Königin aller Instrumente klingt gut und ist schön geformt. Das Foto zeigt auch die Details, die so sorgfältig geschaffen aber selten bewundert werden.
