im Karneval ist alles möglich: die Polizei tritt ohne Mütze auf, weil die Narren außer Rand und Band sind und die Mützen sehr begehrte Trophäen, dafür kriegen sie auch mal ein rotes Herzchen auf die Backe oder ein paar Blümchen, wie hier

The cops who have to accompany the parade are kissed and hugged and get sweets and flowers, but their job is not too easy!
The policemen are supposed not to wear their caps during "Ossensamstag", because these caps are considered a nice souvenir, and even people who in every day life are too shy to speak to a policeman, under influence of carnival and alcohol dare to grab a cap off the head of an officer on duty.
