Photographer’s Note

This is the small church St. Petri in the village Hänigsen, situated north east of Hannover in the federal state Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony).
Here there is the deepest potash mine of the world and here also the first oil field in Germany was discovered where one can siphon the oil in a swale which always again is replenished. Here already in 1546 the first oil drilling of the world was made.
But actually I wanted to show you the church ... ;-))

Hänigsen first was mentioned in the year 1226 and the oldest parts of the shown church already were built in 1274. Because of the steadily growing population - especially in connection with mining - the church several times was enlarged.
It's interesting that one bell is hanging outside the steeple in a kind of jutty.
