Photographer’s Note

View of the Burgplatz in Braunschweig.
The origins of Braunschweig dates back to the 9th century.
The city owes its fame to Henry the Lion, who became Duke of Saxony and Bavaria in 1142. He made Braunschweig his residental city and the centre of his realm. To demonstrate his power and glory, he set up a bronze lion in the castle square, that became the famous symbol of the city. He later built the Cathedral of St.Blasii (in the background).
The city of Braunschweig shows nowadays a very nice historic center, with wood framed houses, and very enjoyable lively streets.
Sorry I had to crop the base of the picture, because of the presence of disturbing beer and sausages stands… I really was in Germany.
