Photographer’s Note
Here I show you the convent of Ursulines which was founded by this monastic order from Metz/France in 1711 on the outskirts of the Hessian town Fritzlar. The Ursulines are a Roman Catholic order founded at Brescia, Italy in 1535, primarily for the education of girls and the care of the sick and needy. In 1719 the convent of Fritzlar was completed. The ancient Katharinenkirche (church St. Catherine) in 1726 was consecrated to the convent's church.
Already in 1713 also the foundation stone for a school was laid next to the convent.
This school really has an eventful history. From 1877 to 1887 the nuns were expelled by the Chancellor of the German Empire, Otto von Bismarck, who wanted to diminish the political influence of the Roman Catholic Church. In 1888 this school of Ursulines was accredited again.
In Nazi era the school was closed and the convent was confiscated in 1941.
After the sister's return in 1945 the convent and the school experienced a rapid upswing.
My photo was taken from the cathedral's terrace above the convent.

Bonjour Frank
Une belle vue plongeante sur ce couvent niché dans un écrin de verdure. L'architecture est intéressante avec cette jolie maison à colombages.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

Hello Frank,
A fine composition with the convent taking up the foreground and the town behind and behind that the lovely countryside. Lovely natural looking colours and excellent sharpness. I like the way the light catches the overhanging branches. Greetings from a sunny and pleasant Charente-Maritime.

Hi Frank,
Nice POV and framing. I think upgrading your equipment has lead to your becoming a more serious photgrapher (or vice versa :-)).
What can we expect in Switzerland and Austria this summer!?!

Randy

Hi Frank,
Really much better weather here, than when we passed Fritzlar some days later... It still remains on our list! This photo shows much of the beauty here. It is also a very sharp picture with very good colours!
Kind regards

Ein wunderbarer Blick hinab in den Ort und zu der Kirche. Auch wenn manche die Äste zur Linken nicht mögen, ich finde dies immer als ein gute Ergänzung im Bild.
Viele Grüße,
Achim

Frank,
This is a nice overview of this church and town. The higher angle gives us a nice perspective for the scene. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail. The sky is a little overexposed but it does not effect the main subject.
