Cathedral of Limburg

No winter time! But a beautiful sunny sky let us start a weekend tour to Limburg. The Cathedral of Limburg was build in 910 by Konrad Kurzbold in a Romanesque style. I could show you only the west fasssade of the cathedral because of the narrow buildings around, so I cannot capture the whole impressive church with a good angel. But I could show you a model which was exhibited inside the church (please have a look to the WS).

Hi Achim,
"Learn about the world" they said, I believed Limburg was a Dutch province ;-)
Nice papagolfade here I like those reds on the facade that contrast very well against the beautiful blue winter sky.

Very nice shot. This cathedral of limburg make me thing to our collégiale Saint-Barthelemy in Liège ( here is my shot).
People gives a good idea of the size.

wieder mal ein schoenes bild von dir ! mir gefaellt der blaue himmel im kontrast zur kirche sehr gut. wenn der himmel farblich passt muss man die hauptobjekte nur noch gut platzieren und richtig belichten ... das ist ein teil der kunst der photographie !

Hi Achim,
beautiful coloured pure and old romanesc church in this charming little town. I've been there somewhere in the 80's on my way to Prag and Wien - on bike of course and was almost forgooten this beautiful church.

Interesting and unusual architecture. The tiny people in the doorway show just how big this is. The light is good and helps to show the details of the building. Thanks for the model in the WS. I can understand your frustration at not being able to find a POv which would show the other tower.

What an interesting building! I have been in Hesse, but in Frankfurt, not here.

Hallo Achim. Ein schönes und detailliertes Bild des Limburger Doms. Gute Details in der (milden) Wintersonne, und ein gut gewählter diagonaler Blickwinkel. Die Farben kommen ziemlich lebhaft raus, und mir gefallen auch die beiden Personen, die im Portal zu sehen sind.

Hallo Achim,
Ich mag besonders die unfruchtbaren Bäume, die die Kathedrale gestalten; ohne sie sieht das Gebäude fast wie das falsch-vordere eines Filmsatzes aus. Ich mag wirklich die dreidimensionale Ansicht des Modells; es gibt ein reales Verständnis der Schwierigkeit des Gestaltens dieses ausgezeichneten Gebäudes. GLF, Pat

I particularly like the barren trees that frame the Cathedral; without them the building looks almost like the false-front of a movie set. I really like the three-dimensional view of the model; it gives a real understanding of the difficulty of framing this magnificent building.

sehr gut im Licht und gute Wahl des Standpunkts. Die Fahnenmasten irritieren leider etwas, aber nicht sehr. Deine Farben und die Kontraste geben dem guten Gesamteindruck die passende Unterstützung.

Very original architectural mode.
We cannot find similar one in France.
Your POV is well choosen.
I suggest you a stitch of several picture if you don't have a wider position.

Bonjour Achim,
une cathédrale qui ressemble très fort à l'église Saint Barthélemy de Liège, même couleurs et sturctures semblables. Je vois d'ailleurs qu'Olivier ne manque pas d'en parler aussi :-).
Parfait cadrage et POV un peu décentré, les lumières hautes bien maitrisées.

Olá Achim, impressive architecture of Romanesque style, indeed.
Excellent capture of this façade, with great colors and lighting that enhance the details of it. Good inclusion of the two human elements for the scale (it's really big!) and thanks for the extra one of the model. I loved it. Really good work here!
