Photographer’s Note

During a visit of Limburg Cathedral I have had the opportunity of climbing up to the gallery of this magnificent late romanesque church. From there I could look down to the workplace of a conservator which - for the other visitors - was hidden behind a curtain. Here one of the old tomb slabs was restored - in incredible small steps. This must be a fascinating work ...

Hallo Frank,

die Arbeit ist bestimmt sehr interessant aber dafür muss mann die nötige Ruhe und viel Geduld mitbringen die ich (leider noch) nicht habe. Sehr schönes Bild wo man gut sehen wie der Konservator an die Arbeit rangeht.

Oh yeah, but it's years and years of work. It's really incredible, how these people work over the antiquities, restoring them to their former self.

Frank, it is really interesting, i like observing people during work. Conserving of a n old artwork is really exciting.

Un cadrage intéressant qui permet d'apprécier le travail de cet artisan . La vue est riche de détails et ceci est une belle illustration , bien à sa place ici sur TE , qui nous permet d'en apprendre un peu plus sur la monde qui nous entoure.

A very good picture where you combine "life and death" so to say. Interesting also with all modern things together with the very old tomb slab. Especially the red bucket is lighting up the capture!

ein wirklich ungewönliches und interessantes Bild! Ohne die geduldige und kompetente Kleinarbeit der Restauratore würde unser gesamtes kulturelles Erbe langsam zerbröckeln (was vielerorts trotzdem noch geschieht...). Eine schöne Dokumentation!

Hallo lieber Frank,
Das ist wirklich ein "echtes" TE Beitrag. So gelangt man hinter die Kulissen !
Vogelblick ist natuerlich gute Idee, da man dadurch erst recht einen Ueberblick gewinnt.
Bei uns hier im Lande ist das natuerlich echt schwer, da in vielen antiken Staedten solche Kunstwerke -bedingt durch viele Erdbeben- in vielen kleinen Stuecken aus dem Boden kommen und die Restauratoren leisten dann echtes Juwelierarbeit.

Diese Restaurateure müssen eine unendliche Geduld haben.Ich habe einige in Kambodscha,Indien und der Türkei bei der Arbeit gesehen.
Ein interessantes Foto,das sehr gut diese aufwendige und zeitraubende Arbeit zeigt.
