Photographer's Note
I took this picture before about 1.5 years during my visit to the zoo in Frankfurt. Was indeed very special and original for me intrigued.Below some information about the type of the animal, but also for the great zoo of Frankfurt.
EMPEROR TAMARIN
ENG:The Emperor Tamarin (Saguinus imperator) is a tamarin allegedly named for its resemblance to the German emperor Wilhelm II. It lives in the southwest Amazon Basin, in east Peru, north Bolivia and in the west Brazilian states of Acre and Amazonas. The fur of the Emperor Tamarin is predominantly grey colored, with yellowish speckles on its chest. The hands and feet are black and the tail is brown. Outstanding is its long, white mustache, which extends to both sides beyond the shoulders. The animal reaches a length of 24 to 26 cm (9½ to 10¼ in), plus a 35 cm (13¾ in) long tail. It weighs approximately 300 to 400 g (10½ to 14 oz). This primate inhabits tropical rain forests, living deep in the forest and also in open tree-covered areas. This diurnal species walks or runs quadrupedally through the forest, spending the majority of its days in the trees with quick, safe movements and broad jumps among the limbs. The Emperor Tamarin lives together in groups of two to eight animals. The oldest female leads the group above several mature males. Mutual grooming plays an important role for bonding and socializing. The Emperor Tamarin is known to form mixed-species associations with the Brown-mantled Tamarin (Saguinus fuscicollis). It has various cries which help them to promptly recognize interlopers. The black-chinned emperor tamarin (Saguinus imperator imperator) is one of the two subspecies of the emperor tamarin. Unlike the bearded emperor tamarin, it has no beard. It is distributed throughout the rainforests of Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. Not much on its conservation is known, so it is listed as Data Deficient by the IUCN. After a gestation period of 140–145 days, females give birth to usually two infants, sometimes one. It is the same size as the emperor tamarin and it eats almost the same food: Bugs, spiders, fruit, tree sap, and nectar. The bearded emperor tamarin (Saguinus imperator subgrisescens) is one of the two subspecies of the emperor tamarin. It is similar to the black-chinned emperor tamarin, with the beard. It usually lives in groups of 3-8, but can be found alone.
FRANKFURT ZOO:The Frankfurt Zoological Garden is the zoo of Frankfurt, Germany. It features over 5,000 animals of more than 600 species on more than 13 hectares. The zoo was founded in 1858 and is the second oldest Zoo in Germany. It lies in the eastern part of the Innenstadt (inner city). Former director of the zoo was Bernhard Grzimek. The Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) was founded in 1858 by citizens of Frankfurt citizens to establish the Zoological Garden, which it operated until the First World War. The city council then assumed responsibility for the zoo until 1950, when the FZS again became the zoo's development association.Crocodiles, gorillas, lions and rhinos: you don`t have to travel to Africa to see these fascinating animals. A trip to Frankfurt Zoo is just as good. The zoo offers not only a green recreation area on your doorstep. Here you can discover more than 4,500 animals in over 400 species. Our animals dowell in surroundings as natural as possible, with many places to hide and live in species-specific social groups just they do in the wild.

Hi Chris
I like this shot as it shows the cute endangered Tamarins inquisitive nature. Sadly not much details can be seen here apart form his excellent moustache! Medium long lens and closeup would be a better choice, it's very interesting to watch this little fella going about the normal day in the 'natural' habitat. I think it's difficult to get the exposure right under this condition but this looks more or less spot on for it really makes the emporer pop from the background. Good effort,
Best regards

Ciao Chris,

I am fairly hopeless with wildlife shots. I always miss the decisive moment hoping for a better angle. This is superb. Good framing, lighting and back & sidelighting on the animal. Nicely framed between the branches, too. The rust red & green colours go well together. Tfs!

Excellent image of the emperor tamarind caught in the branches and green leaves with a beautiful contrast. Maybe the photo is a bit 'underexposed because you do not see the details of the muzzle of the monkey. In any case, the photo is beautiful and a great POV.Very complete your description note

The branches and the trees are framing well the animal. The point of vies is showing the details and colours of the Emperor Tamarin. The surrounding light is giving a good contrast to the colours. Have a nice day.
