Photographer’s Note
Dreikönigskirche was one of the first Protestant churches in Germany, at a time when it was still dangerous for a congregation to choose this path. In 1338, a hospital chapel was built here. This later became a parish church (1452) and a protestant churchThe Its first Protestant pastor arrived in 1531. Despite multiple renovations, the church was in such disrepair that it was knocked down in the late 19th century. Plans for a new sandstone building were drawn up, and the Dreikönigskirche (Church of the Three Kings) was opened in 1881. The neo-Gothic main hall is reminiscent of many of Frankfurt's other sacred buildings.
