Oberfeld Photo | TrekEarth

Photographer’s Note

The barn "Oberfeld" (=upper field) is the last farm in Darmstadt and is owned by the country Hessen. In summer a small beer garden is opened. From here you could start walking-tours to the recreation area with wide meadows and forests with some interesting hidding ponds.

On the Map you could see the house on the upper right side of the square.

On Wikipedia you could see a historical pic from 1950. Look to the picture with the name "Hofgut Oberfeld um 1950", the building is on the left.

Some historical information about Darmstadt:
Historically the residence of the Landgraves and Grand Dukes of Hesse-Darmstadt, in 1918 Darmstadt became the capital of the Republic Hesse. Following nearly complete destruction of the inner city in the Second World War, Darmstadt lost the function of capital city of the new state Hesse to Wiesbaden.

A nice composition wich shows very well this beautiful house of North of Germany. Il like especially vegetation to walls and too the contrsat between the building and the blue of sky.

Schande über mich,ich wohne in MA und arbeite seit über zehn Jahren nicht weit von DA,kenne dort aber nur die Matthildenhöhe.Beim Anblick dieses tollen Hauses sollte ich das diesen Sommer ändern.....

You have captured this old farmhouse very well!
The harmony and brightness of the colours make it a beautiful place. I like the architecture , the green of the creeping plants; and the old roof of red tiles against the bright blue sky give a very good effect.

When you see it close to the Nepal shot, it enhances my former trouble ! The architecture are so alike !!!? But ok, there is something more european here. But it's a minor difference. Good technical realisation too.
