Photographer’s Note

Darmstadt, the city where I live, has a very interesting and inspiring Art Nouveau part on Mathildenhöhe (a little elevation in the east of town). One of the striking buildings and also landmark of the town is the so-called Wedding Tower, which was build on the occasion of our Landgrave’s (Duke’s) wedding 1899. On the walls of its entrance hall, artist Friedrich Willhelm Kleukers has made two extraordinary mosaics – The Kiss is one of them. It was only with my DLSR and my good old “beercan” lens that I finally took many photos of this mosaic with the intention to find an appropriate one for a wedding card for friends.
This one is the result, I have cropped it, enhaced the colour and have sharpened it.
