Photographer’s Note
"Tag der Offenen Tür", Day of the Open Door (don't know if it's the correct translation) of the Congresss Center „Darmstadtium“, a day when the Centrum open all doors allowing to look behind everthing, high-tec water managment, solar techniques, sound & light, electricity, ... Built in 2005-2008 the main Congress Hall has 1200 sqm with 1.475 seat places. In total the Centre has 21.000 sqm for events, seminars, exhibitions.
The name "Darmstadtium" is a Hommage on the sensational, world-wide considered discovery of the GSI Institute for Heavy Ion Research. 1994 the 110th element of the periodic system was discovers.
In the mirror you could see on the left the Old Theatre (built from 1897 to 1906), in the middle the Museum (built 1819 by Georg Moller), and right a part of the Residential Palace built in 18th century. Maybe you wonder about the wall in front of the building. The wall is a part of the old City Wall. As it is under protection, they include the wall in the building - have a look in the workshop1, workshop2

Hallo Achim,

Hello Achim,
'Open Day' would be the correct idiomatic English I imagine. A very good composition of this ultra-modern building. like the point of view and the long perspective along the façade. The bicycles add a nice touch. Very good colours and clarity and an interesting reflection.

Hi Achim,
This building must have been built to catch that wonderful reflections ... quite nice as it gives the image an extra dimension. The man is a good inclusion as he gave scale of dimension to the building. Good POV and I like the angle of your shot. Well composed! tfs

Hello Achim,
An modern architecture with the completely glass wall around the building.
Also the reflections of the other building in the glass wall give a nice composition.
It's a spectacular image together with the old city wall and the bikes in foreground.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice week,
John.

Hi Achim,
Very unique capture of this modern glass facade catching the old traditional archtitecture reflecting in windows. The blue sky reflection makes the perfect background for the old yellow building with its lovely white columns.

Hallo Achim,
A setting with an excellent perspective and a good combination of different architectural styles. The Congresses building is magnificent, and you have taken advantage perfectly of the reflections of other buildings in its glass front to obtain a strong graphism.
The people and the bicycles add a nice touch of daily life to the composition.
The WS and the note are good, too.
Best regards,
Josep

I regret the work in progress in the foreground but except that this building seems to be really impressive. Its shape (or your pov) makes it stunning. Well done.
Would you go there back when the work is finished ?

Hi Achim,
A very impressive picture, with a lot of important details! The reflections are amazing!
I also like both WS.
I'm impressed about the remaining part of the old City Wall. A lot of History in this place and surroundings. Thanks for the instructive note.
Congratulations!

Hi Achim,
This modern architecture reminds me a bit of the new extension of the Royal Library in Copenhagen, similar dark facade. You captured this building from a great POV and I really like to see those reflections. Also the combination of old and new architecture is great and the WS shows how nicely the wall is integrated in the building. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Hallo Achim,
Laszlo
