Dockland - Hamburg harbour.
I recently visited Hamburg after 25 years and I have to say, I didn't recognize it one bit :)
I lived 6 months in this town in 1989 and the only place I could remember was the Binnenalster and its arcades. All the rest was a blur...
To my partial justification I can say that the majority of the new buildings, mostly what makes Hafencity today, didn't exist back then.
Here we are in Altona, along the Elbe, where this geometric building attracts many visitors. From the top you have a fantastic view of the harbour and river. And once you're done enjoying the view, you can go back to the center by taking one of the many ferries that go up and down the Elbe - or walk for a few minutes along the river where you can have great sushi and sashimi at Henssler & Henssler, which is what I did :)

e ci credo che sia molto frequentato, la vista da qui deve essere fantastica.
Gran bello scatto, geometrie, luci e ombre, persone, tutto ben dosato e ben fotografato.
Hai avuto modo di vedere...un'altra cittą.

superb composition, with powerful graphic impact with all these diagonal lines. Great black and white shot. What you write about the visit sounds very inviting - the beautiful view from the top, then going down these stairs, very interesting structure, and the delicious sushi at the end. Mhm... not bad idea :)

It looks as the back of a big liner with the many stairs going from one deck to another. Nice play with the shadows making a pattern of diagonal lines and silhouetting the many tourists aboard!

This is a photo that should make you proud :-). It is graphically very attractive with all the diagonals and squares and the silhouettes of the people. Athough you occasionally show colour photos this couldn't possibly be anything but B&W.

Strange but attractive architecture, which makes an interesting image. Reading your note reminds me that I took a group of students to Hamburg at about the time you were living there. Here's one of the results of that visit.
