Photographer’s Note

Neuschwanstein Castle, near Füssen, Germany.

This castle was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to Richard Wagner. The castle was closed to the public until his death in 1986, when it was opened to visitors searching for a way to pay the debts acquired by the King for the construction of the castle.

All of the castle's inner walls are decorated with scenes of Richard Wagner's Operas.

Nowadays, the castle receive some 1.3 million visitors a year, being the most visited place in Germany, and one of the most famous castles around the world (it is even the inspiration for the well known logo of Disney).
