Yesterday we have had a wonderful hike in the German low mountain region Rhön about 100 kilometres east of Frankfurt/Main. It's of volcanic origon and it truly is a multifaceted landscape - and it is very well marked for hikers. Rhön spreads over the states Hessen, Thüringen and Bayern (Bavaria).
One of the highest mountains here is Kreuzberg with an altitude of 928 m - situated in Bavaria. On its top there's a very popular monastery with a famous brewery ...

My photo was taken at 5°C from up here in a north-eastern direction. Down in the valley you can see the small Bavarian town Bischofsheim with about 5000 inhabitants - in an altitude of 450 m. Weather forecast announced first snow on top of Kreuzberg for today ...

A stitch of two photos.

In map view right hand I put the marker on the position where the photo was taken from.
