Photographer’s Note

Würzburg is a city in the region of Franconia which lies in the northern tip of Bavaria, Germany. Located on the Main River, it is the capital of the Regierungsbezirk Unterfranken. The regional dialect is Franconian.
The Old Main Bridge (Alte Mainbrücke) in Würzburg, lined with Baroque statues of saints, leads to the districts on the left bank of the Main. From the bridge can be seen the Alter Krahnen (Old Crane; 1773) and the Würzburg Congress Center. On the left bank, below the Marienberg, are the parish church of St Burkard (11th, 12th and 15th C.) and the Burkarder Tor.
This shot was taken about an hour before sunset as we returned from a hike up to Marienberg fortress.

Un joli cliché avec un ciel chargé qui donne une belle luminosité sur la ville et les constructions à l'architecture intéressante. Tous les promeneurs donnent de l'animation à l'image.

Hello Asa,
A good capture of this busy scene with the lovely architecture making a splendid backdrop. The point of view over the statue lined bridge is well chosen providing a good lead-line towards the towers. The colours are saturated but not overly so and make a fine contrast with the cloud-filled sky. Good sharpness.

Les couleurs chaudes, dues au coucher du soleil, donnent beaucoup de luminosité à cette vue! Le ciel gris en arrière plan rehausse les couleurs des maisons.

From a dramatic light point of view even better than the "before the storm" one, also pov offers buildings of better interest, but watch out the feet my friend, 6 of them feel painful with that framing ;-)

Hello Asa,
nice picture with many beautiful buildings! I like its softness and rich warm colours. Very good composition. The sky is cloudy and it looks like rain (?) but the buildings are still warmly sunlit, and the whole area looks sunny.
Concerning these two guys on the right, IMHO, I would let them pass a little bit forward (just 4-5 steps) before taking a shot.

Hi Asa, this is a great composition and an excellent view of the city. The view along the bridge seemingly leads one right into the heart of the city, towards the church, while the steeples and statues combine togive the atmosphere of a city rich in culture and history. A simple but effective photo.

The place is beautiful and you present it very nicely. You didn't let all those people ruin the photo and they actually give a life touch instead that is pleasant to see. That mix of sun light and storm clouds produces a wonderful light that makes the colours stand out.

Oh gosh,how different that can be from the New Continent!
People just walking relaxed,without any bussiness, in a colored,almost "cartoony" small town.
And what I like most is the sensation of genuine,not the "Las Vegas kitch".

Hello Asa,
a lighting like here (sun behind the photographer) seldom allows to take good shots since in lack of shadows the buildings do not show their depth. But this one is an exception thanks to the contrast between the dark clouds in the background and the lighting bright facades. You were able to utilize the rare moment excellently, congratulations!

I visited this town a couple of times but I did not own a camera at that time. So I am glad to see it in your pictures.
Great job, I like very much the colors and the stormy sky, even the people which are usually annoying in this kind of shot -they are adding a color here and creating a touristy atmosphere.
