Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken from Fortress Marienberg looking down at Wurzburg and the Main river. Würzburg is a city in the region of Franconia which lies in the northern tip of Bavaria, Germany. Located on the Main River, it is the capital of the Regierungsbezirk Unterfranken. The regional dialect is Franconian.
During World War II, on March 16, 1945, about 90% of the city was destroyed by some 225 Lancaster bombers in 17 minutes by a British air raid. Most of the city's churches, cathedrals, and other monuments did not survive, while the city center, dating from medieval times, was totally destroyed in a firestorm in which some 5,000 people perished. During the next 20 years, the buildings of historical importance were painstakingly and accurately replicated.

Hi Asa,
The pastel sky with its wispy clouds contrast brilliantly with the lush valley and the the river banks wonderfully linned by the beaitufl German city.
Excellent clarity and depth to this fine landscape.

Hi Asa,
Great high POV of Wurzburg and the Main river from the Marienberg. I once took a cruise along the river that give good views of vineyards on the slopes of the river and beautiful villages along the way. Lovely scenery, colors and lighting. Best Regards. Latiff.

Hi Asa,
a bit lacking from the weather and large shadow in the preview but opened just a lovely view which I have seen myself some years ago. I like your capture with the long bow of the Main in that green and red coloured city.

Bonjour Asa
beau point de vue de la ville de Wurzburg, je constate que le rouge est très populaire pour les toits des maisons, belle composition.

Hi Asa,
A beautiful scenery and a very fine picture. There are two models of this city at the Marienberg Museum; before and after March 16, 1945. These models really give you something to think about!

Thanks - I always enjoy seeing pictures from my home town on this site. I don't live there anymore, but I liked the view whenever I was up there. Especially in the late afernoon, when the warm light is on the city like in your picture.
