Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken from the Marienberg Fortress above Wurzburg.
The Würzburg Residenz is a palace in Würzburg, Germany. It was designed by several of the leading Baroque architects. Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt and Maximilian von Welsch, leading representants of the Austrian/South German Baroque were involved as well as Robert de Cotte and Germain Boffrand, who were prominent architects of the French Style. Balthasar Neumann, architect of the court of the bishop of Würzburg, was the principal architect of the Residenz, which was commissioned by the prince bishop of Würzburg Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn and his brother Friedrich Carl von Schönborn in 1720 and was completed in 1744. The Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, assisted by his son, Domenico, painted frescoes in the building. The most spectacular interiors include the grand staircase, the chapel and the grand salon, and was indeed dubbed the "nicest parsonage in Europe" by Napoleon. The Residenz was heavily damaged in World War II, and restoration has been in progress since 1945.

Hello Asa,
You extracted well from the surrounding roofs, this remarkable and imposing architecture. Clearness makes it possible as well as possible to examine the architecture, whose your note describes the history well. A work interesting and a document. Cheer.

Hello Asa,
Good high POV of the Residence with its green garden. Today I posted a photo of the south entrance to the garden. Your photo shows how large the mansion is. You also managed to get the Franconion Well marked by the standing sculpture in the photo ... between the red roofs. Regards. Latiff.

Hi Asa,
When I see this photo, I come to think of a model of this city that you can see at the museum in the castle. One model shows Würzburg before March 1945 and another shows Würzburg after March 1945, when nothing remained! Everything was destoyed in one night! Most of this city has been rebuilt after the war.
Best regards

Hi Asa,
Lovel lines and patterns to the traditional vibrant red rooftops seen from your high prespective.
The beautiful German architecture is seen in subperb light that brings out clear natural colors and sharp details.

Asa,
pretty impressive palace surrounded by all the red roofs providing a good contrast to the brown color of the walls. Not very easy to find the ideal frame for this overview although you got a pretty nice light here.

Hallo Asa!
A wonderful and interesting photo which shows this outstanding building very well in its surroundings. I've never seen it like this. I hope you visited it and you have seen its incredible staircase ;-) I like the many details one can detect in this photo - and this "landscape out of roofs" also is interesting.
Greetings from cool (+1°C) and very wet Germany! Brrr!

Hello Asa,
The informative note you've provided puts this scene into historical perspective. The size of the edifice, the Würzburg Residenz is overwhelming. The two huge domes symmetrically placed, I think dates the architecture as early 18th century, rather than 15th or 16th. Set against a sea of red roofs, the mustard color of the Residenz sets it off so dramatically.
Good shot, Asa. Warm regards,
Bulent

ciao Asa,
complimenti per la bella inquadratura.
La fortezza al centro e tutto il susseguirsi di tetti in questa vista dall'alto e' molto bella.

Wonderful shot looking over the rooftops. I particularly like how the gold and black of the palace architecture splits up the red roofs of the city.

A really nice view! Too bad they tend to build those square buildings all over beautiful cities; sometimes it is impossible to keep them out of the photo. Anyway, the contrast between the small red-roof houses with the huge castle makes a really interesting view. Also I congratulate you for the note, since it is nice to know exactly what you are seeing.
Regards,
Leonardo
