Veste Oberhaus Fortress Photo

Photographer’s Note

Veste Oberhaus is a fortress in the city of Passau. It is located in a mountain crest between the Danube and the Ilz. Some meters to the right of this picture, the Ilz pours its waters to the much bigger Danube. More information from this fortress can be found in Wikipedia (in German).
This is an international picture, because I was some meters past the border to Austria when I took it. The house in the foreground (bottom) still belongs to Germany, but probably the trees closer to the picture are already in Austria. See the map to see exactly where I was standing. The fortress is like ca. 3 km away from where I took the picture

Hello Jurgen,
You show a great perspective of the castle fortress. Only now I can fully appreciate its size & dimension ... thanks to your POV and vantage point. I wasn't really sure if it was the same fortress I made a quick visit in 2005. The link you supplied confirmed that it was. Regards. Latiff.

This is a very nice shot of this great castle. Your composition is great with the inclusion of the house in the foreground and the castle well framed by the trees. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail.
