Photographer’s Note

St. Stephan's Cathedral is a baroque church from 1688 in Passau, Germany. It is the seat of the Catholic Bishop of Passau and the main church of his diocese.

Since 730, there have been many churches built on the site of the current cathedral. The current church, a baroque building around 100 m long, was built from 1668 to 1693 after a fire in 1662 destroyed its predecessor, of which only the late gothic eastern side remains. The cathedral's overall plan was made by Carlo Lurago, its interior decoration by Giovanni Battista Carlone, and its frescos by Carpoforo Tencalla.

Interesting building. The details and design look great. The people on the street give me an idea of the size. Excellent perspective and good natural colours. The image is sharp and present us a beautiful example of baroque architecture. Thanks.

Hallo Georg,
sehr beeindruckende Fassade der Kathedrale, die durch den Blickwinkel gut zur Geltung kommt. Trotz des ungünstigen Lichts ist die Oberfläche und Struktur gut wiedergegeben. Die Integration der Bäume sorgt für eine passende Tiefe im Bild. Der Himmel wirkt leicht, als er verrauscht ist, was aber auch an der Wolkenstruktur liegen kann.

Cadrée un rien plus bas, je l'aurais préférée, tu as coupé deux personnages sur le dessous.
J'aime beaucoup les lumières bien dosées qui donnet de bons contrastes sur les murs.

Wspanialy obiekt i jego historia. Chcialbym posluchac i zobaczyc organy. Lubie muzyke organowa. Znajac siebie kadr bym wyprostowal i wyostrzyl, ale tak sobie mysle;). Ladne kolory, postacie zas mowia o wielkosci katedry.
