Sometimes life is like a movie - everything is moving and changing. I notice this especially when I stop and look around. But it may be that one is even in motion. Such an example is an moving staircase.
The people on the moving staircase went down, I went to the top. While driving up I photographed the scene.
Each of the people is preoccupied with himself, - and her expression is the same, even if no camera is nearby.
Have you asked people for permission?
I know this question.
First, I prefer the snapshot, because I do not like arranged/posed photos.
Second, I almost never ask for permission.
And when I photograph people, I would like to see them if possible from the front.
Of course I respect it when somebody sees me and does not want to be photographed.
Black and White version see workshop.

a nice graphical composition. Like the use of strong diagonals and those parallel lines. A nice quality image with those figures. Excellent work. Tfs.

I am not sure whether I prefer the colour version or the black and white. Either way I like the composition very much with the line of figures rising diagonally up the frame. The expressions on their faces are quite beguiling. The reflections in the background are an added bonus.

Hi Wolfgang. I am puzzled in how you remain invisible to your subjects. You are going up, yet even the lady in the middle is not really focusing on you. Another cleverly constructed composition with an elegant frame. Regards. Klaudio.

Le rythme quotidien très effréné ne donne pas vraiment le sourire aux acteurs dans cette composition. Ce n'est pas chez ces gens que l'on prendra une mesure de l'indice du bonheur.

An interesting composition with the diagonals. Each face tells its own story. I like to photograph in this way too. Not ask, but try to frame faces and expressions anyway. Someone asks you how you do it. I think I know your answer but others will have to find the answer for themselves.

I enjoy your note here and I really like this picture. There are two crossing diagonals that make the composition very attractive. It is interesting to study all these persons here, the middle lady is clearly looking straight at you. I wonder what she is thinking...

Great compo here !! I like the diagonals and the reflections in the BG
It's really amazing how people are ... away in their thoughts !!

This is an interesting photo of five persons who for a few seconds have no choice but to stand on the escalator waiting to get down. Their faces don't show any feelings and it lseems that for a short while they can allow their minds to drift off anywhere. Soon they will have reached the next floor and will have to make decisions and think of where they are going and what to do next. This is also typical of your style of photography: the superb light, the clarity of the colours and how you manage to avoid disturbing details.

Hi dear Wolfgang
Another great shot by your own originality.
Nice output from humman watching. Each different expressio is so intersting to see.
Sharp and clear image as usual as perfect.
Thanks a lot and have a good new week! Takero

I like this shot, Wolfgang ~
with the strong diagonal of context running through it.
With your photograph, we can study this selection of everyday people in a way we couldn't just passing by them. The ghosting of the second set of people on the right makes it even more interesting.
Most of all, I enjoy looking at the different expressions and wondering what is on their minds at this moment.

I love this. As you say the expressions (or lack of them) are very typical of people in transit. The woman in the middle obviously clocked what you were doing, and doesn't look too pleased, but you have the bottle to go for candid street scenes, a quality I really admire. I also like the dynamic diagonal across the frame created by the escalator. Good work.
