Gute Nacht, a photo from Bayern, West

Photographer's Note

After a month long of touring Italy which was very hectic, I finally had the time to relax here in Germany. This was taken last night, quite fresh, in my host family's backyard.

I was just sitting by the pond, waiting for the sun to set, killing time, enjoying the cool weather whilst watching the colors change. Talk about the enjoyment of taking your time and just doing nothing.

This shot was take with a GND .8 Filter and a Graduated sunset filter

had a hard time balancing some of the elements 9you may find the others a bit dark) so i combined another shot which was a bit brighter than this one.

hi matt,
wow, this is an impressive image. the smaller thumbnail catches the eye immediately. the colours here are rich and well saturated. the purple flowers compliment the colour tones in the sky very nicely. excellent composition with lots of interest in the foreground as well as through to the trees in the distance. a lovely atmospheric picture.

the high saturation works pretty well in this late evening shot with the small area of lighter grass helping to lift the light level.
It appears as a really well landscaped area,full of charm and interest.

un gram bel panorama, l'ottimo controllo della luce ha permesso di offrirci una bella profondità condita da tanti colori e molte sfumature nel cielo. Il piccolo specchio d'acqua da luce anche alla parte bassa, dove l'immagine sarebbe risultata più scura.

Kamusta Ka Kabayan Matt
Excellent long exposure night shot at dusk, Low light photography is incredibly challenging, but when you get it right the results are fabulous. The exposure is good, thks to ND filter, it's so well exposed with good white balance. Impressive pov, such wonderful moment sitting by the pond and observing the sensational sky. The delightful foreground subjects are so close and sharp taking us to the far end with amazing diff layers of subtle colors and the contrast is so stunning. This such a gorgeous shot and moment in time deserves to be savoured. Top notch, my friend. Congrats.

WUNDERBAR! As the Germans would say...I think :) This is just magical, the pastel tones are magnificent and you handled the light so well. Your use of the filters was so clever. The low POV, the luminous water and reflections and the superb perspective have all combined together to make one beautiful symphony - or madrigal :) I hope you loved Italy Matt and look forward to seeing your photographic adventures.

Hi Matt,
Beautiful sunset shot. Wide angle lens fits well with this landscape and shows details of that puddle well.
Use of filters shows as different colour balance between sky and reflection on water. And brightness difference between the sky and landscape would be much bigger in reality.
But the question of whether to prefer realism or visual impact is pretty much matter of taste, so don't take this as negative criticism.
