Neuschwanstein Castle is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds.
The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive king, but it was opened to the paying public immediately after his death in 1886. Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer. The palace has appeared prominently in several movies and was the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle and later, similar structures.

An excellent point of view to show the castle in its entirety and demonstrating how it dominates the surrounding countryside. The light was not of the best, but you have managed to bring out the colours and detail to great effect.

Wow, this is an imposing castle!
It rises high above the trees and dominates the land around. You would imagine a reclusive king to be in a more discrete place!
You have given splendid, sharp details of the castle, strongly placed in the frame and with an oof b/g which gives context without distracting from the focal building.
Have a lovely day,

I am not sure, but it seems me very familiar castle, I have seen this palace on the photos of Trekkers. Gorgeous composition, fantastic architecture, it looks like a fairy tale decoration for a movie, for example. TFS!

Good view of this magnificent castle from the Marienbruck. The colors are well saturated and the sharpness is perfect. It's certainly a magical place worth visiting, but as you say, in the summer influx of tourists is almost excessive. In any case it is a great place that has other secrets as another castle, a beautiful lake and the beautiful views of the Alps ... Many thanks for sharing.

Impressive castle and fine clear view upon, every window shown, but the most impressive elements are the unique turrets.
Inspite the cloudy day, mnanaged a fairly good light upon the edifice.

a small typo: Neuschwantein is not correct, but Neuschwanstein; but your photo is fantastic, probably would be me too many people out there!

The trees are framing well the castle. The distance between the castlke and the river is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colors of the architecture of the Neuschwantein castle. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Asa, beautiful postcard from Neuschwannstein. You were lucky to see it like this. I was less fortunate, it was all covered with scaffolding for restoration, besides I have vertigo so I didn't go to this high bridge for the best POV. superb capture.

Hoping to do a tour here soon. I am off to Munich tomorrow. Hope all the scaffolding is gone. A superb high pov with good sharpness and excellent shadow detail despite the backlighting. The bg lake adds interest. Good graphism too. Tfs!

The famous castle taken with good POV, a high one, from where we can see two sides of it as well as the surrounding landscape, like the vegetation at the front that works as well for contrast
Well done, tfs
I was there some years ago, not photos inside and not idea of this place for such a good view
ourania (27096) 2014-08-01 6:51
the distance from the magnificent castle seems perfect and your composition is very elegant. The architectural style is original and distinctive and, although the theme is quite familiar, I appreciate very much the sharpness and clarity of your photo, that allows us to enjoy thoroughly both the details on the building and the beautiful features of the surroundings. The lighting variations have created a special mood, the colours are very lovely. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely month,

The world–famous castle of Bavarian king. Sharp, clear, detailed picture with beautiful colours and nice framing made of green trees. Very good perspective made by castle in the FG and small homes in the BG.
