Harburg is a town (population 6,000) on Bavaria's romantic road with one of the most impressive remaining medieval castles in Germany. It is in the Donau-Ries district.
The castle was first mentioned in 1150 and has never been seriously damaged by war. Unlike many other German castles which were built in the last 200 years or rebuilt after World War II, Harburg castle retains the feel of the Middle Ages. Singer Michael Jackson called it "the castle of my dreams", and tried unsuccessfully to buy it.
The village itself is quaint with many footpaths and a historic stone bridge.

hello Stephen, Harburg sounds like Hamburg :). Impressive castle and I am glad that Michel Jackson did not fulfill his dream to buy it. Great quality of more than twenty old photo.

Good effect with the contrast of colors, good choice for the pov and intersting natural and vegetal frame with leaves.

I do like the snippets of information that we read on TE. I never heard of Michael Jackson trying to buy this castle, but it doesn't surprise me!
I like the inclusion of the vegetation in your shot, it creates the mood of 'Sleeping Beauty'. The light is just beautiful and has made interesting hues along the wall of the castle.
This is a very successful transfer.
Have a great w/e,

another step back in time. This looks so imposing and can see why Jacko wanted to buy it. Gloriously framed here and decidedly impregnable. Great transition again.
Enjoy the weekend - B.

On dirait bien que tu as décidé de vider tes fonds de tiroirs et de tout scanner tes belles photos des années 90. La contre plongée donne beaucoup d'ampleur au sujet.

Nice work, nice view of the architecture.
Beautiful natural colors and nice contrast.
I'm new to the TE and I hope we will be good to hang out here.
Hello and good day.

This view through the trees makes me feel like I am a spy, hiding in the bushes and looking up at this castle. You captured beautiful colors here too, the red and blue being particularly fine.
And, I can definitely see a face in that castle. The right hand side of the building with the smaller higher windows really looks like a robot face to me!
A lovely choice of view on this place.
All the best

I like your use of the vegetation to frame the castle with its quite solid looking outer wall. Your notes are always excellent accompaniments to your images.
I have never tried to scan slides myself but was wondering how you see the success of the scanned image in comparison to the original ?
