“The most crooked hotel in the world.”
The most crooked hotel in the world according to the Guinness book of Records. I didn't go inside at all but from the outside it is stunning. The leaning of the building is so noticeable as one end actually seems to be falling into the stream that runs past! Every window is adorned with brightly coloured flowers and it certainly is a sight worth seeking out.

A charming night scene on the typical wooden houses, and upstreet on town.
Though, I saw many tilted houses, one in Bernkastel which was really crooked. Probably the wooden beams not strong to withhold earth erosion, due to many rainy days in the area.
Fine photojob, cheers,

Hello Danos, greetings are neighbors today. All the best from southern Spain.

Hello dear Danos,
One of the "best"s in your gallery.
The strong light on the foremost house creates a perfect contrast with the dark blue sky, which helps us to see every single detail perfectly.
TFS and best regards
holmertz (36989) 2014-07-14 11:26
A remarkable and picturesque building filled with character. The light shining on it, and through the door and windows, under the dark sky makes it look very cosy. Maybe this is a good place to spend a night, hoping it won't collaps.
PaulVDV (20375) 2014-07-14 11:47
To me this looks like a real pretty house. So charming and characterful.
Taken from a good angle.
Beautiful with the bikes like silhouettes in front of it.
Best regards, Paul
PiotrF (4342) 2014-07-14 11:49

Interesantan tekst o krivom hotelu, lep pogled i trenutak ...
An interesting article about the wrong hotel, nice view and a moment ...
Good time recording and contrast, beautiful architecture and details shown on the facade.
Good work, nice captured moment of light that pointed out the beauty of the facade.
Beautiful traditional architecture.
Good evening and peaceful night, all the best in the new week that started, good luck.
asajernigan (20352) 2014-07-14 12:17
This is a nice long exposure with excellent detail. The lighting is great and the photo has fine sharpness. The angle of the shot allows us to see more than one side of the hotel exposing the crookedness.
saxo042 (36902) 2014-07-14 12:37
There are not many straight lines along this building but still a very attractive and harmonic architecture. The illumination creates a very strange mood here. A very well taken picture of this special and interesting house.
williewhistler (12353) 2014-07-14 13:27
despite the challenging exposure settings you have captured the crooked house in real style taking full advantage of the available light, the quirky nature of the building is interesting and very enjoyable to view.
macjake (51972) 2014-07-14 13:33
no kidding about this looking and being crooked!
this is for sure a place i'd love to spend a night in, who wouldn't.
even the steep slanted rooftop looks fantastic.
great post for TE
makes me want to go there
lousat (72137) 2014-07-14 15:50
Hi Danos, what a atmosphere in this late blue hour, the choice of the moment makes the difference, magnificent capture of these old houses builth in the typical local style, great exposure, bright colors and very good detail too.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano
pierrefonds (54880) 2014-07-14 19:04
Using a slow shutter speed and probably a support is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the crooked hotel. it also has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

First of all I would like to congrat you for winning of Soccer World Cup since you are a German.
This is a different type pic from your end. Colours are nice. However the angle is a little different.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello DAnos ,
A superb night capture of this outstanding old house . Attractive contrast of the white wall with the dark blue sky .
It looks like a house from a fairy tale !
Waylim (25020) 2014-07-14 23:38
Very interesting building. Crooked hotel, not sure I want to stay in it :) I enjoyed looking at this photo at least. I love the blue hour shot with deep blue sky and great contrast of the light on the crooked building. The light really brings out nice detail of the wonderful and charming looking hotel and those flower boxes give splashes of red. Excellent shot.
siudzi (32323) 2014-07-14 23:47
What a superb night capture this! Really well seen, cropped and executed with superb exposure, sharpness and color management. The view is spectacular! Well done.
emka (73093) 2014-07-14 23:56
Hi Danos, How funny this Crookedest hotel in the world. Why you didn't go inside, even to see? Staying there would be fun but probably expensive.
Excellent presentation, Fantastic blue hour shot.

ktanska (24102) 2014-07-15 2:02
Wow, that's one seriously twisted building! But I'm sure it's well maintained nowadays and will stand times. Good light showing details clearly agains dark blue sky. Exposure is just right.
Kamilutka (8095) 2014-07-15 4:00
I would love to stay in this hotel :-) The crooked walls make it very special and the bicycles parked nearby add to its charm. The whole village looks nice and peaceful at this time and the cobbled street invites for a night walk. Very pretty even despite being far from perfect :-)
Well taken picture with good quality colors, sharpness and well planned composition.
Thanks for sharing
jhm (135042) 2014-07-15 5:01
Almost a fairy tale house, exactly a painting of the the Dutch painter Anton Pieck.
You play excellent with light and dark.
Colours and sharpness are excellent made.
Nice light reflections too.
A nice composition and lovely presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
akustyk (3703) 2014-07-15 5:33
looks very nice without the usual hordes of tourists which swarm there in daylight. I like the remains of evening blue on the sky and the bicycles. well done!
Sergiom (54331) 2014-07-15 6:05

jcpix (11398) 2014-07-15 13:07
Ahaha, and here it is...and all kinds of crazy! :) I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but I appreciate the posting and dedication just the same. What a wild and wacky design, a perceived optical illusion of sorts that would seem to defy architectural structure...looks like a moment of an earthquake which has been frozen in time as the building began to crubmle. Glad that's not the case and everyone can enjoy its unique build and beautiful appeal.
Taking this under the cover of night feels to bring out another intriguing aspect to the visual, somewhat of a mystery as to how this is actually standing?? Thanks so much for obliging my curiosity. This hotel would also be a perfect fit along Lombard Street in San Francisco. :) Enjoy the rest of your evening....while standing straight. lol Take good care my friend.
Royaldevon (26429) 2014-07-15 14:35
This is certainly a crooked house!
You have done a fine job of capturing it a night, using your monopod. They are very useful and so much easier than a tripod to carry!
You have captured fine details of the crooked house and, also given us visual information about its location.
I just love the roof!
I thought you might want to feel really wobbly by taking a look at this website of crooked houses .
fritzi007 (2662) 2014-07-15 15:01
really a very good, interesting night shot.
I've been to Ulm, but not seen.
Your photo is fantastic, congratulations!
jmdias (52472) 2014-07-15 17:35
it is amazing the spot of light here, the beautiful old house looks like in evidence against the darkness of the night arriving. perfect angle and marvelous mood and details. TFS.

Cricri (101149) 2014-07-16 11:08
abmdsudi (39470) 2014-07-16 12:31
These old half timbered buildings - yes indeed leaning to the left, make such excellent subjects captured in its entirety from this viewpoint despite the difficulties in getting the shot, the result looks perfectly fine to me under low light condition, and your exposure seems well mastered to me. It's the warm coloured that carries a greater impact and character under dark night sky. Tight but well-capture architectural detail and a pleasure to see, excellent shot and tfs.
nikkitta (13192) 2014-07-17 18:47
The hotel, good as a subject for a photo, bad to enter it, more if the crooked is due to nature
Like the colors, the contrast lights in the inviting windows and the impressive dark blue sky and the bikes at the front
Good POV to well located the corner where the hotel stay
Very well done, regards
Your first answer made me laugh, people MUST read notes
eldancer1 (25085) 2014-07-18 6:49
This must the inspiration for the architect that designed Las Vegas' Veer Towers, the two condo-hotel towers that are leaning. But I like yours better. Nicely captured with good details. Well done, tfs.
geoant68 (2751) 2014-07-18 7:50

Hi Danos dear
The hotel is beautifully shot tilted. Depth, exposure and obviously doing well at night. Congratulations and thank you for recording this nice picture
Tigerlily (2915) 2014-07-19 1:07

unusual old crooked hotel. Attractive building for tourists. Good shot and presentation here. I like the lights and dark blue sky in BG. Photo is very well done.
Have a nice WE.
elenimavrandoni (14231) 2014-07-19 5:14
mirosu (12514) 2014-07-20 4:39
Splendid photos with many superb details. The old houses are in excellent light & clarity. Your straight viewpoint is very good and the contrast against dark blue sky is perfect.
Very well done.
Kielia (22913) 2014-07-20 6:32
excellent night shot with a fantastic atmosphere and brilliant colors. This famous building is absolutely fascinating. The photographer’s perspective is also excellent. Congratulation!
mcmtanyel (10392) 2014-07-20 22:13
It looks crooked, alright! A well caught night scene with good colors and great light management.
ChrisJ (94756) 2014-07-21 1:43
Looks like the gingerbread cottage from Hansel and Gretel! Love the strong contrasted light and the repetition of the many skylights in the attics. The fg path or channel at rights adds lead in lines and perspective. Tfs!
Alco (6552) 2014-07-22 18:30
Beautiful night shot of that building. Perfect management of the light. Beautiful colors and great sharpness. Very well done. TFS.
Have a nice day.
Angshu (54689) 2014-07-24 5:18
Excellent shot...the exposure is perfect! The Hotel building tilts in a interesting manner obviously because of the soft ground & gradual erosion by the stream. A glimpse of the late blue hour sky in the far BG ads a lot to the picture
delpeoples (52443) 2014-07-24 6:38
Kalispera dear Danos
A delightful old hotel. I have never seen this and I love it just as much as Jason no doubt does. beautiful Blue Hour tones and superb overall light management. Well done, dear friend.
adores (34330) 2014-07-29 16:53
An incredible building, specially at this time of the day. Great pov and light - you got a very good shot, I like the sky still blue and the bikes around the building. It must be fantastic inside!
clic (14098) 2014-08-12 7:10
Geia sou Danos
It appears as the hotel was built according to the drawings of Numerobis, the inept architect of the BD Asterix and Cleopatra who was hired to conceive a palace for Caesar!
Nevertheless, it appears as a jewel of crooked architecture masterfully captured in the evening; it is very difficult to achieve such an attractive depiction without any overexposure at twilight.
Quite a genial little refuge to spend a nignt in company with the ghosts lodging in the pinnacle, each having his own dormer window!
swapankumarroy (517) 2014-08-15 8:06
You have nicely captured this most famous crooked hotel in the world and your article is very much informative and as well as interesting. Though it was low light condition but you managed very much efficiently besides its color, light and shade and all other aspects. Well done.
MOST IMPRESSIVE AND EFFICIENT WORK.
best of all and have a nice weekend.
