Photographer’s Note

Theodore Robert Bundy, known as Ted Bundy, was an American serial killer who murdered numerous young women across the United States between 1974 and 1978. He twice escaped from prison before his final apprehension in February 1978. After more than a decade of vigorous denials, he eventually confessed to 30 murders, although the actual total of victims remains unknown. Estimates range from 29 to over 100, the general estimate being 35. Typically, Bundy would bludgeon his victims, then strangle them to death. He also engaged in rape and necrophilia.

No one knows exactly where and when Bundy began killing. Many Bundy experts believe Bundy may have started killing as far back as his early teens. Ann Marie Burr, an eight-year-old girl from Tacoma, vanished from her home in 1961, when Bundy was 14 years old, though Bundy always denied killing her. The day before his execution, Bundy told his lawyer that he made his first attempt to kidnap a woman in 1969, and implied that he committed his first actual murder sometime in 1972. Bundy's earliest known, identified murders were committed in 1974, when he was 27...

Dark moody and broody and an excellent composition - I can see how the image may have made you connect with something as dark as the Bundy story.....but with the power of this image I think I would rather make my own references.

I have read now the entire history in Italian and it is really very very terrifying... You have rendered well in this photo the frightful and glacial atmosphere of the murderer coming. Excellent choice of framing and management of light. Superb B&W tones.

Reenkarnasyon diye ben buna derim ! Geçen akşam böyle bir merdivene tam kritik yazmış yollamıştım ki bir anda ekranın köşesinde bir error mesajı gözüktü, sonra ne yapsam nafile. Şimdi ise bir açtım TE'yi baktım ki, benim merdiven kalkmış Haydarpaşadan gide gide iki günde Stuttgart'a varmış !!
Merdiven altı işler hep iyidir, ama İstanbulda artık böylesi altı açık merdiven de kalmadı.
Kadrajı ile, geometrisi ve grafiği ; hele hele de hikayesi ile muhteşem bir kare.

Hi Korkut--I grew up in the part of the U.S. where Bundy mostly did his killing (Washington state), so I remember hearing about him a lot. Did you know he got a college degree in psychology, worked on the campaign of Washington state's Republican governor, then was appointed assistant to the head of the state's Republican party? Now, I've always been suspicious of Republicans, but it's still not the place one expects to find a serial killer.

Anyway, the guy in the photo doesn't look ominous enough to suggest a serial killer. But it's a nice graphic photo with an unusual POV. Regards, Ken.

bu tam korku filmi tadında olmuş.modelinin merdivenlerden inişi müthiş.soğukkanlı bir seri katil sanki:( az önce cinayet işlemiş gibi bir gizemi var.
merdivenlerin yarattığı grafizm,duvara vuran ışık ve dikey kadrajın güzelliği bile bu gerilimin etkisini hafifletememiş sanki.ellerine sağlık.selamlar

that's quite a dark 'real' story, Korkut. Can't imagine how it is to be so close to such a person...and you got enough cold blood to make a great shot. And considering your hands shaking with the eminent threat this is pretty sharp :) Nice detail from his right hand. I'm glad you got out alive from there...You should frequent more sunny places ;-)

Ben Santral aşeriyorum galiba, hani Santral'de elektrik müzesi tarafında aşağı deney düzeneklerinin olduğu kata inen merdiven var ya, bunu o sandım. Üstüne kasıp modeli de Deniz'e benzetmeye çalıştım. Yandaki duvarı ne sandın diye sorma, onu fark bile etmedim...
Grafik, s&b, karanlık hepsi çok güzel ama ne yalan soyliim Santral olsa daha mutlu olacaktım galiba :)

A great story, but I miss the link with the museum! Yes, the stairs could be like in a prison - though the side-lights might be a bit overly excessive in a prison. ;-)

"Many Bundy experts" e bittim. Tabii aglanilacak bir durum ancak bu uc sozcuk beni tuhaf aci sekilde guldurdu....Aman aman Bundy'ler heryerden ve herkesten uzak dursun.
