Photographer’s Note
I pass this tobacco field every morning on my way to work. It`s about one kilometer away from my home.Behind my POV is the road and a supermarket where I go shopping nearly every day.
The church in the background is in the suburb Wallstadt.
About my POV.I did some shots the day before, but the tobacco plants are so tall.Last monday in the evenening we had a grey sky but some gaps in the sky.I came back with a ladder and I had to wait some minutes for sunlight.
Since today ,1st of august 2007 in my state(Baden Würtemberg)smoking is forbidden in public places like restaurants,railwaystations.....
My fast DSL connection is still broken,it`s a Telecom problem. They have money for EPO for their bycicle team, but no time for their customers.....

Hallo Andreas,
Tabacco or EPO...seems a big difference ;-)
Great note, sorry about the connection, must be like stop smoking and don't no what to do in the meantime.
Using a ladder tells me you are dedicated, an extra point for that. It gave you a very good pov. I like the light, who needs a blue sky for such a picture. The church adds a small but very nice detail to it.

Hallo DSL-Verlustiger,
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Good shot with this perspective and the sky behind.

Here in Rio many public places are forbidden for smoking too. I love this, because if someone like to smoke the others don't have to like. But I never thought that a thing that kill could have soo pretty plants. The photo has a great depth and good colors. Was nice to see the church tower on the background.
Thanks

Very cool idea to use the ladder. I'm impressed. Maybe I'll try taking a ladder with me next time I take photos. It certainly gave you a nice POV over the tops of the tobacco. Great lighting with dark clouds in the background. Smoking sucks, and so does slow internet connections. ;)

Hi Leo,
it's sad that those beautiful plants will be smoked someday and probably someone will be sick for that. But still beautiful. I like the perspective and the flowers color. They contrast well with the background trees and the heavy sky. Well done!

Nice shot of the field, with the rows really giving this a sense of direction and also a good sense of depth, as the converging lines lead us right into the scene. I like the dark sky too, which makes this look very dramatic. Well done!

Hello Andreas,
If anything, this photo is FOR smoking not against it. The way you portrayed tobacco in such a beautiful and glamourous way doesn't deter me from smoking, but makes me want to smoke such beauty. ;-) Also, great composition with the line running through and the little tower to the side. Nice photo.

Wow, the second tobacco flowers picture in one week. I also posted one from Indonesia. I am currently on a land job in the Madura Island and the rig site is in the middle of the tobacco fields. The only difference here is that the farmers do not leave the flowers to stay that long. They come and shop off all. I think the procedure is to make the plant to produce bigger leaves.
Your picture is really beautiful and the idea of the ladder is very curious. The layer of pink makes an excellent contrast with the dark sky. Well done.
About smoking laws, in Queensland they have been in place for almost two years. Even at the beach, at the areas under life guard supervision nobody can smoke!

Hello Andreas -
This is a very nice image, the flowers in the field and the treating sky makes it rather stunning. I am surprised that tobacco has such a nice looking bloom. I have never seen the tobacco plant in bloom it is usually at harvest time that I have seen this plant in numbers getting ready to be hung in the drying sheds. I like your composition with the long dark row as a leading line but I do like the church as an added bonus to the image. Without the church the image would be still a nice image but some of the impact that made it stunning would be lost. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Leo,
A good composition, leading us deep into your picture. Fine colours, I didn't know tobaco plants lok so nice.
But why are you so cynical about Tcom? Your tobacco plants remind me the colours of your DSl provider :-)

Hi Leo,
Well, your ladder work paid off...The view over the plants is superb, with the shadowy gap taking the eye well into the frame. The lighting is perfect, and there is great depth, with the church in the distance well seen and very much enhancing the scene. This is an inspiring photo. I had no idea that tobacco crops grew in Germany.

Hi Andreas,
Great perspectivem, the depth is amazing. And the dark corridor between the flowers is great, it emphasizes the colors in the flowers, it breaks the scene and it avoid the possible monotony! The sky is wonderful and the church's tower in the horizon line is too a big element! Very nice shot! Thanks.
Regards,
Angel.

Hallo Leo,
Good perspective and depth of image is this composition, because of the lines of the tobacco field, which take the look to us up to the forest and the gray sky.
Good work with the light and the colors, I like the contrast between such a cloudy sky but with the field and the flowers illuminated by the Sun.
Best regards,
