Most of Karlsruhe places of interest are along main boulevard of Ettinger-Strasse and continued as the Karl-Friedrich-Strasse.
On the way leading towards the Schlossplatz, the town palace, also is the mall the Ettinger-Tor , and the Staatstheater.
The Karlsruhe Constitution Obelisk, located in Rondellplatz, with the Markgräflich-Hochbergsche Palais nowadays is a bank building.
Location on Ettinger-Strasse: 49.0068, 8.4037, a 16:9 aspect ratio, +0.7 exp bias, and added a bit extra saturation.

One, a wonderful nice building with pillars and nice façade.
The obelisk and tram rails make these picture nice to look at.

Good morning Ike, good picture of that city center, that ancient monument was conserved and I can see the streets and tram tracks were build around it, nice view of the urban planning and a remarkable architecture
High resolution, nice colors and exposition

Good Morning Ike,
The building in the f/g, with a slightly pink veneer, looks as if it has had grandeur added at a later date, in the form of pillars, as the building behind the pillars, follows the natural curve of the other buildings. How curious! I was immediately attracted to this building.
Later, the tramlines took me to the monument and deeper into the scene. The buildings have a tall, imposing structure, characteristic of cities that I saw.
Love the orange and yellow brickwork. So cheerful!
I can see why you chose this viewpoint; it does create a good lead.
Have a great day,

quite unusual place for an obelisk- between the tram tracks. But the obelisk itself looks impressive. Also other elements of your photo appeals to me much.Like for example the building and the electric wires above(which by the way add in my opinion interesting visual effect to the shot).
I like your composition, where every element of it is well considered and placed in the frame.
Have a nice day

The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the architecture of the buildings and of the monument. The good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

very attractive postcard like presentation from Karlsruhe, exactly as I like it. You have included several interesting structures here, showing the obelisk in its context. It seems like a beautiful town. A bit more sunlight could make it much more colorful I guess.
I have never seen any photos from this famous town so I am glad to see your picture.
Very well done,

Interesting scene of the Karlsruhe Obelisk, including the Rondelplatz buildings, and the passenger train tracks swerving around it.
And a bonus with your links to more information.

Lovely clear shot of this building In Karlsruhe with its grand portico an ornate columns. Your POV gives good depth to the shot and the curves on the tram track remind me of the old scalextric racing car track I used to have in my childhood. Too many years ago.

I wonder if your photo is the first ever in TE of the Karlsruhe obelisk. I had no idea that it existed. You really make it look good with an excellent composition where the obelisk is perfectly positioned not only at two thirds but also perfectly realtive to the buildings around. I also like your inclusion of the tramtrack that adds dynamics to the scene. TFS and have a nice evening!

This "Monument to the founder of Constitution donated by the grateful city of Karlsruhe" cuts a fine figure in mid 'strasse' and can be qualified of VIP monument from wich trams have to merge!
Juxtaposed to the bank's colonnade it appears majestic, compared to the mid-street-taken pictures I saw on Wikipedia.
Thanks for showing.

This is a beautiful urban scene. The buildings have a great architecture and colors.Excellent image quality. Very well done. TFS.

Nice warm cold color contrasts between the red and blue with punchy light contrasts and good sharpness. The tram tracks add both dynamism and lead in lines and linear perspective. The obelisk with the bust and portrait make a fine focal point. Tfs!

This is quite an interesting picture, it looks and even feels completely desolate...and yet everything appears to be in good shape. I'm drawn to the to those conflicting aspects. I like how you've arranged this to include so many essential elements, and the tram line leading into the distance is very well placed to help with the natural flow. Detailed, colorful and nicely controlled for a well executed image. Have a great day ahead.

Hi dear Ike
I like the added saturation, it makes the photo jump out of the monitor at me. The lines of the tram tracks and overhead wires also create a compelling perspective. A very beautiful building, shot with good taste and excellent light management.

Hi Ike,great choice of point of view,i like the details on the obelisk, very well exposed in the usual difficult light..ehehe....and the surrounding perspective create by the facades, very nice bright reflections on the windows too.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

your work in composition, cropping and colouring is wonderful and your presentation of this central point of Karlsruhe is very elegant and attractive. All the elements you thoughtfully included in the frame are interesting and create a fine balance. I love the dynamism of the perspectives, the positioning of the main focal points, the delightful guiding role of perspectives and colours. Depth and sharpness are excellent, the interaction between strong and pale colours creates a special impact. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
danos (78122) 2013-10-16 8:35

macjake (45588) 2013-10-16 21:22
who can resist an Obelisk right!? haha
what caught my attention right away about this scene is how there were no empty spaces.
Love the fact the railway continues on through the right side of the frame creating depth.
and the wires, i'm a big fan of them even though many people say to clone them out - thats a big mistake in my humble opinion.
a very effective point of view and comp.
enjoy your day

I was a bit silent during past days No access to Internet-lot of traveling), yesterday I just came back from my Kerala trip, and it was excellent. My silence is broken. I've already started post photos from this trip.
I like the composition of this photo. The rather darker obelisk is well placed in front of bright building. the colors are well balanced and the contrast against blue sky is very good.
shevchenko (18725) 2013-10-17 2:28
Nice to see variety type of architectures by the roadside, good pov to frame it all, thanks for sharing a fascinating view from the beautiful old city.
kato (9532) 2013-10-17 4:03
You're capturing well this street by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the beautiful/historical building with strong pillars, tall monument tower on street and the winding tram track. The whole is harmonized well by a good arrangement and excellent color combination.
adramad (30925) 2013-10-17 7:20
Very nice composition with this interesting corner of the city, which highlights the elegance of the obelisk and the building with the classical portico, although all the buildings we see on the street perspective are interesting.
Very good image quality, sharpness is also great.
Enjoy a happy day.

A beautiful group of structures from Karlsruhe. I like the vertical lines the obelisk, the columns and the tower in the b/g make in concert. Good light management and clarity. TFS.
jmdias (48351) 2013-11-27 15:19
excellent framing catching very well the façade imitating a greek temple and this brown obelisk. I liked the softness of the light and the quality of this image. TFS this town I never had seen before.
