View to south-east side of Black Forest frpm village of Hoechenschwand located at an elevation 1,000m a.s.l.
Most of Black Forest is densely forested with very dark passages, even during bright sunny day. From there the name Black Forest originated, basically because all the trees put together make it look black.
The sheep herd in the photo, which is usually accompanied by 2-3 dogs and one shepherd, are moving across the meadows during whole winter, from late autumn until early spring.
The whole season the shepherd is staying with the sheep herd without roof over the head, but the local people in the area which the sheep are crossing offering some food and also possibility to take warm bath or shower from time to time.
The sheep herd can include 100 or more sheep.

Hello Miro ,
Très belle vue de ce troupeau de mouton dans la Forêt Noire sous un bon éclairage . Le toit rouge de la ferme constitue un bon point d'accroche . Superbe ciel .

The skyline is a plus point for this pic. Below side is just a normal pic. Please don't mind.
Thanks for sharing.

That's a lot of sheep and a lot of trees! I would not envy his job if one of these got lost in the forest! You know, this is the first time I can see why the black forest is so named, I never seen before how the dense foliage looks so dark. I also did not know that was why it is so named! I learn every day here on TE :)

You're capturing well this pastoral scene by a good angle ans excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the black forest with the gregariousness of many trees and the sheep herd in meadow. It's also effective for clouds in blue sky. And, the farmhouse with red roof draws out a good impact.

Now this is what I was expecting to see from the region! :) I loved the originality from your previous, but you can never go wrong with traditional when it's this good. Speaking of original, the composition here is a bit unexpected, but it works well having this much of the frame filled with the sky. The big clouds add a lot to the overall scenery, and of course make for some good contrast. There's a good sense of the thick forested areas within this small section of landscape, and that red roof really makes a wonderful focal point. So, did you go and count the sheep...are there 100 or more, or do we just have to take your word for it? haha Beautiful journey into the Forest. Have a great weekend. All the best.

A nice show-and-tell, demonstrating why the Black Forest is named as such. That is one huge and dense flock of sheep. The red roof provides a nice focal point.

The landscape is beautiful, with excellent colors.
TFS. Have a great weekend.

first of all I like your idea of this high sky a lot. It adds a very moody touch to this characteristic landscape. The light is also very pleasant. The photographer’s perspective is excellent. TFS!

The drived from the black texture under bright daylight that give the trees a dark color, thus called "The Black-forest", Miro.
We see this for a fact on this lovely landscape scenery.
The sheeps herd and the red roof-tiles house provide a great contrast and vivid tone. Thanks for the note written on my picture.

A springtime landscape with great potential when the glorious cloud formation & blue sky play the major role in attracting the eye and having more of the sky area is a wise decision indeed. The eye is directed to the bright and eye catching catching flock providing a strong focal point in the foreground, a nicely composed shot with great dof and sense of depth
adding both interest and content, Congrats
