Photographer’s Note
I continue trawling through my archive of slides for this series of pictures taken on a trip to Heidelberg in May 1991.
All pictures were taken on slide film (probably Kodak Ektachrome). They have since been scanned and converted to digital using Photoshop and NeatImage.
A close-up on one of several fountains in the beautiful city of Heidelberg in Germany. This fountain located in the middle of the Karlplatz is dedicated to humanist and cosmographer Sebastian Münster (1488-1552), who spent several years in a Franciscan monastery in Heidelberg in the early 16th century. Michael Schoenholtz created the fountain in 1978, when the square was being remade to install an underground car park beneath it.

Hi Stephen,
A very interesting statue that forms a nice composition with the water around it. Good colours behind the statue and apparently a skillful scan.

Bonjour Stephen,

Roger

Stephen! Did you notice this is #800? Congratulations!
This is a very unusual statue/fountain. I like how you have frozen the movement of the water.

Hi Stephen,
Congratulations on your 800th post and what a fine old time image you have chosen for the occasion.
Love how the modern fountain contrast so brilliantly with the traditional German architecture.

To be very honest I don't see this as the most attractive piece of art....HOWEVER I think it might be the most interesting :) One could spend alot of time looking at this. It makes me wonder how artists come up with these ideas. Very good lighting and detail. TFS
