Elbe from the bastei Photo

Photographer’s Note

In Saxon Switzerland, in around thirty km east of Dresden, the rocky training formations of stoneware of Bastei are particularly impressive. We have a very beautiful sight on the Elbe there. The persons everything in the top of the rock to the right give the scale of this vertiginous place.
I place in WS a vertical sight (I did not really know how to decide between both)

I looked to you WS, also this picture is very nice, I prefer for your classic horizontal image.
Composition together with depth and perspective are superb.
Splendid the rocks parts between the green vegetation.
Excellent mountain landscape picture.

Hi JJ,
Although i like this lanscape and find this horizontal better than the vertical one, it lacks of contrast in here. It's all too hazy, too soft. Light was not your best friend here, that's sure. I made a small ws, maybe you like that...if not i will remove it.
But despite the bad light and the contrast, the scenery and your pov is excellent, wish i also could have stood there, the view and depth looks great.

This is a very well composed shot showing the cliffs on the right and the river on the left. The river leads the eye through the shot nicely giving the shot a nice sense of direction. The WS shots are fine as well with the people giving us a nice sense of scale. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail.

You show us a wonderful sight here - from an outstanding angle. The view along this rocky slope and the line of the river create an enormous depth. The ws version also is very impressive.

Ben t'aurais pu venir en Suisse tout court au lieu d'aller te perdre chez les Saxons, bon c'est vrai j'y etais pas occupe en ... Bourgogne !
Joli point de vue ici, l'Elbe trace une forte perspective dans ton image, moi je prefere celle ci a la version verticale car j'y ressens une plus grande impression d'espace.

Il y a une belle lumière. J'aime comment la très bonne vue spectaculaire est si bien restituée. Souvent les photos de vue dominant des paysages sont plates, ici ce n'est pas de tout le cas. Bravo.

Très belle vue, quelle immensité, cet falaises sont impressionnante, det rès belles teinte, une légère brume, avec le graphsime de l'Elbe et le champ qui le longe, superbe image, mangigique.

si tu n'avais pas mentionné la présence des personnages je ne les aurais pas vu sur cette version (sur la vue verticale ils apparaissent mieux) ; c'est vrai qu'ils sont minuscules dans ce superbe paysage. Belle profondeur pour apprécier l'ensemble de la vue. Bien joué.

your POV gives you a very good composition with the cliff to the right providng a great frame and the river leading deep into the image and the little town at the end. Difficult light conditions with haze disturbing somewhat. Not that the WS is perfect, but it improves the overall a bit.

qu'il est beau,ce paysage,et photographié d'un point de vue qui le rend impressionant!Je préfère ce cagrage au WS,je trouve que c'est simplement beaucoup plus agréable à regarder,car plus aéré!J'aime les couleurs douces,je pense qu'elles sont plus belles que celles du ws de notre ami Henk,qui donnent une certaine dureté à la photo!

Pour moi une préférence pour celle-ci.
Un joli point de vue dominant qui fait penser à la rive droite de la Seine entre La Roche Guyon et les Andelys sans la route qui borde le fleuve.
J'apprécie beaucoup.

J'aime bien cette vue " bouchée" par les rochers sur la droite et ouverte de l'autre coté. La présence du fleuve propose une belle ligne de fuite.

Je préfère, et de loin, le WS qui met en valeur la hauteur. C'est pour moi beaucoup plus impressionnant. De plus la brume est plus visible ici

Tu as réussie une très belle photo sur un très beau paysage.
J'aime la lumière qui enveloppe ces falaises et l'Elbe. Je comprends ton hésitation entre les deux photos, j'aime bien le format vertical, je lui trouve plus de force.

Great elevated POV, dramatic cliffs, I would like to go there one day, and especially to go back to Dresden, it must have changed so much since when I visited in 1990.
