The purpose of my trip to Loebau was primarily to see the King Frederick Augustus Tower. The tower is a beautiful, openwork structure, you can see the details in the WS.
This is the only preserved observation tower of cast iron in Europe, and perhaps the oldest tower built of iron. It is located on the Loebauer Berg (Loebauer Mountain) near Loebau in Saxony, offering a panoramic view of the Zittau Hills and the Upper Lusatia region. The tower was built in 1854 and was named after King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony.
The tower has a total height of 28 meters, it has three observation galleries.

This is a very interesting and attractive structure. It looks like a giant pepper or salt shaker! I love the sheen of the tower. The golden inscriptions/decorations are a nice touch.

Perspective has been well managed here with no apparent tilting of the tower which I find often happens if placed too far left or right of centre. Good sharpness and the intricate ironwork of the tower is clearly visible. The 2 people add scale and context. Tfs!

This is a fantastic building, a superb proof of engineering skill and craftmanship 160 years ago. The WS confirms the artistic value of this work. Your photo is very well taken with perfect light and colours and you wisely included some people for the dimensions, including one seen climbing the stairs.

Ciao e buona giornata

Awesome capture of this iron tower! I wonder if they weld those irons together or what process they used to built it. Good pov and sharp details. Well done, tfs.

wow, this is an incredible piece of architecture and iron work.
I have never ever seen this in a photo anywhere before, its completely new for my eyes.
I wonder what type of viewpoint is up in the tower, and i take it there's a spiral staircase?
great post for TE
