Gothic House Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here I show you the so called "Gotisches Haus" (Gothic house) in the small town Wernigerode, near Magdeburg in the eastern part of Germany. It was built in the second half of the 15th century. It was occupied by the patrician family "Adenbüttel" . After the big fire in 1528 it was made up some years for the burnt down city hall (you can see it's stairs at the left). Since 1848 it houses a tavern and today - after having been restored in a excellent way - a wonderful and cosy hotel.
Wernigerode is really worth a visit because of it's very well preserved townscape with a lot of splendid half-timbered houses.

I love German architecture and I like very much how you have framed this to maximise the details that we see. You had a lack of light, but this hasn't prevented you from achieving a nice shot.

als Fachwerkliebhaber teile ich Deine Einschätzung, dass sich dieses Haus für ein Bild anbietet. Hier einen passenden Ausschnitt zu finden, dürfte schwer sein, bei all dem was sich da sammelt (Treppe, Haus links). Du hast eine gute Wahl getroffen.

I like Your superb tales about regions, to their specificity, about the architecture and the history with her related. You express your opinion with the true passion and the connoisseurship which surely finds its own reasons in the know, which hereupon you possess. Thanks to this of the personnel so nice how this can additionally come back to life in our imagination. The very good composition, the faultless sharpness and nice for the eye colours.

Your Githic house is a very good example of neat and functional German architecture. By the way, did you know that ancient Goths lived where is now North-Eeast Bulgaria and South-East Rumania?-))
