Photographer’s Note
A candle flickers in its feeble attempt to light the huge, ancient church building. The greenery, placed there so carefully to add its fresh beauty, is wilting fast in this dark, dry, cold place. I see great beauty even in the wilting leaves, and even more beauty in the brave little candle that beams its small rays of light as far as it can.
I hope we can all see beauty even in the sorrows of life, and bravely keep shining our lights to illuminate those around us and give them hope.
This picture was taken inside Magdeburg's Dom (an old church that was still under renovation last time I was there). I did no photo editing except to add a frame. The camera was not an slr, but I achieved the depth of field by zooming in all the way.

This is a sucessful picture.
I learn how to improve my composition of a picture after seeing this. Thank you.

Hello Erin
A great first plane, simple but with a good composition a defocused bottom. Perhaps, I had liked that the candle had an additional adornment in its structure. Good work

Buna Erin,
I like the compo, with the architecture of the Dom blurred in the back and the candle and greenery in the foreground to the left, building a diagonal to the apse of the church.
