The pictured rocket is a reconstructed V2 that was used by the German army in WWII. At that time, thousands of these rockets were fired at targets in Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. It could fly up to 300kms and carry a warhead of one ton Amatol.
After Worldwar II Russians and Americans built upon German research for the development of their respective rocket programmes. Recently, the "Canadian Arrow" corporation tried to win the Ansari X-Prize with an improved variant of the V2 rocket, having been intended for carrying tourists into space.

It's really strange. I like it. Interesting contrast in scenery. There is this man-made element surounded by nature. Nice framing.
