Photographer’s Note

Located south of the Brandenburg village of Sacrow, Church of the Redeemer (German: Heilandskirche am Port von Sacrow) lies on shore of the Havel. Because of its position and style, the unusual church, often simply called the Heilandskirche, was built in the Italian-style with a freestanding campanile (bell tower) in 1844. The design was based on drawings by the Romantic on the Throne, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Ludwig Persius, the Architect of Kings, received the commission for the project.
