Photographers Note
This is another capture I made short after the reunion of two Berlins.
In this house (Corner, Dorotheenstrasse-Friedrichstrasse) lived Friderich Engels 1841-1842.
And during DDR period there was been a brass plate mounted on the wall with a portrait of Engels atop.
Someone had stolen the plate, only the portrait remaind.
And on the mark of the plate, he (or someone else) wrote . KOHL ! The German Chancellor, during whose period the reunion of both Germany's took place.
Also this entry is been scanned from an Ectachrome diapositive.
I dedicate this capture to Marine Rebillout (eversmile). And take a look at her TE entry : http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo965808.htm
Bu kareyi Marine Rebillout'a (eversmile) ithaf ediyorum.

Hello Mesut,
A great historical capture this is!
THe theft of the plate, the 'Kohl' written there. Very nice, with the overall feel of decay in the paint. The theft and portrait as the past, the decay in the paint as current and the 'Kohl' as such as the only little hint towards a better future in this compo.
Greetings, Dennis

Merhaba dear Mesut, my dear friend!
Excellent capture indeed a funny one, with the writing below the face of Engels, I guess that Engels will be very uneasy in his grave, given that chancelor Kohl was for many years the leader of the Christian Democrats, the conservative party of (West) Germany. Excellent capture! Congratulations!
Warm regards,
Hercules

Thank you very much Mesut. So now I understand why you reacted so strongly to the name Kohl written on my picture! The story of your note is interesting and provides a good explanation for this odd association between the names of Engels and Kohl. What's disconcerting is that it's almost written the same way on both photos, just in a different size and colors!!!
The feeling of the past is well given by the faded colors but I hope you won't mind that I propose you another version in WS, quite different.
Best regards
Marine
