Construido por Jean Nouvel en 1996.

Nouvel es conocido por sus superficies de vidrio. Aquí, combinó sus experiencias en superficies transparentes y translúcidas con los intentos de interpretar el tipo de construcción del antiguo barrio de almacenes, del cual las Galerías de París son un ejemplo frecuentemente citado, ofrecer una única fachada a Friedrichstrasse, históricamente la calle de tiendas más elegantes de Berlín, y tratar de recuperar su antiguo esplendor.
La interpretación de Nouvel del tipo de edificio de almacenes, sustituye el atrio famoso de las Galerías de París, por una serie de cristales en forma de cono.

Atrium of the Galeries Lafayette in Friedrichstrasse, in the district of Mitte, Berlin.
Built by Jean Nouvel 1996.

Nouvel is known by his surfaces of glass. Here, he combined his experiences in transparent and translucent surfaces with the attempts of interpreting the type of construction of the former neighborhood of stores, of which the Galleries of Paris are a frequently mentioned example, to provide a unique face to Friedrichstrasse, historically the street of the most elegant shops of Berlin, and to try to recover its former brilliance.
Nouvel's interpretation of the type of building of stores, replaces the famous atrium of the Paris Galleries, for a series of crystals in the shape of cone.
