Photographer’s Note

This capture shows th entrance of one of the oldest churches of Berlin, the Nikolaikirche.
Nikolaikirche is situated in the heart of Berlin, exactly where the city was founded. It is the oldest standing church in Berlin and it is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. The church lies in the eastern part of central Berlin, in the district known as Mitte. It is surrounded by the historical streets of Spandauer Strasse, Rathausstrasse and the Muhlendamm, which contain many, restored Medieval houses. The over 400 kilometres long River Spree flows beside the church.
The church itself was built in 10 years between 1220 and 1230.

Bu karede de, Berlin’in en eski kilisesi olan Nikolai Kilisesi’nin girişini görüyorsunuz.

Nikolai Kilisesi, tam Berlin’in göbeğinde yer alıyor, bu nokta, şehrin kurulduğu nokta. Berlin’in en eski kilisesi olup, aziz Nikolas’a (Noel Baba) atanmış bir kilisedir. Berlin’in doğusunda yer alır (bugün bu bölüm’e orta Berlin deniliyor). Çevresinde önemli tarihi caddelerden, Spandauer Strasse, Rathausstrasse ve Muhlendamm yer alır. Bütün bu caddelerde çok sayıda ortaçağ yapısı vardır. 400 km’nin üzerindeki Spree nehri, kilisenin hemen yanından akar.
Kilise, 1220 ve 1230 yılları arasında, 10 senede yapılmıştır.

Hallo Mesut!
Dort war ich auch noch nicht. Ein wirklich ehrwürdiges Portal in menschengerechten Dimensionen. Die Bettlerin wird förmlich von dem Steinbogen "umschlossen" (ihr Dasein möchte ich nicht kommentieren). Ein eindrucksvoller Eingang, der Stabilität und irgendwie ein Angebot an Schutz vermittelt. Ein einfaches aber eindrucksvolles Foto ...

Merhaba Mesut,
the woman laying on the floor in front of the door added that bit of drama which makes the compo pretty stronger. Besides that there is a almost perfect symmetry with the little part of benches framing the great details of the facade. Excellent scan and excellent quality delivered.

Merhaba Mesutcugum,

Tas duvarin yüksekligini, renklerini güzelcene gösteren bir slide (Ektacrhome-100 hakikaten güzel bir filim idi, fakat Kodachrome filimlerini tercih ederdim). Zavalli kadinin resim de bulunmasi hem hos, hem de tabii biraz üzücü. Türkiye'de olmamasi hiç olmazsa biraz daha iyi. Burada Cumartesi gecesi sabahin ikisi, herhalde Istanbul'da Pazer günü sabah dokuzdur.

Hello my friend Mesut,

Because we went to Berlin some years ago I thought I would remember this old church but I didn't, and then I see that it is aslide taken 17 years ago, the church is still there but perhaps it has been restored who knows. So for me it is an excellent image, amd also a good documentary picture.
Please do come to my two exhibitions, on the 19th (Casa dell'Arte ) and the 23 d ( Cemal Resit Rey ) both at 17.30 pm.
