Photographer's Note
It's nearly incredible but this tavern is situated only some metres away from the centre of Berlin, from Alexanderplatz, from city hall, from the vibrant middle of Berlin.
This quarter was a present to Berlin's 750th birthday in 1987 - donated by the city to itself. This part of Berlin was nearly totally destroyed in World War II and therefore a few streets of houses have been built here with the aim to replicate the ambiance - the so called "Milieu" - of Old Berlin. The heart of this quarter is the beautiful Nikolai church - just behind the photographer (you can see it and another street in this quarter in workshop) - which at time is renovated elaborately (until Sept. 2009). It was first built in 13th century.
In 1987 this quarter of the city, called Nikolaiviertel, still was part of East Berlin and so Berliners called this new old quarter "socialistic Disneyland".
Anyway, today it's a lively and at the same time cosy and calm oasis in the very middle of Berlin-worth to be visited. You'll find there many restaurants, wine taverns, arts and crafts shops and souvenir shops.

Hello Frank,
I can imagine the amount of beautiful buildings lost to bombings during the big war. Too bad but at least is nice to see some buildings being renovated or replicated. Nice composition showing good light and point of view. Thanks for sharing Frank :-)

Bonjour Frank,
une scène de la vie de tous les jours en Allemagne, conviviale et sympathique et ici assez calme. Cet arbre en plien milieu des constructions fait tout son effet.
Bien à toi.

Frank,
You did a nice job of showing us this tavern. Your light management is good taking difficult light conditions and giving us a good exposure. Your composition is fine showing the tavern from an angle to gives the shot depth.
TFS,
Asa

Hi Frank,
The surroundings look very modern and so, but this particular house here looks like it could have been anywhere in one of those small German towns. A "Biergarten" under a big tree, what more could you ask for?
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hallo Frank,
An inviting photo. It is great that Berlin has respected its history and rebuilt/renovated the old milieu. You have selected a good angle for the photo. The control of light and shadows is very good in a high contrast situation. Beautiful light and natural colours. Very pleasant atmosphere here. The WS photos appreciated too.
Greetigs,
Lasse
